Capital Cities

A capital city or capital is a municipality holding primary status in a country, state, province, department,
or other subnational entity, usually as its seat of the government. Historically, they often become the main
economic center and a focal point of attraction of a region. So because of that when people visit a new
country they are most likely going to visit the country's capital as well.
Since capital cities are quite large centers of attraction for people when traveling, they encounter some
problems. One of the major ones is traffic. While someone living in a rural area is probably able to drive
ten miles to work in no longer than twenty minutes, someone living in a capital city may easily take an
hour or longer to travel the same distance after crawling along in traffic and stopping at a light after light,
or sitting and crawling along in long miles of traffic on an urban highway. Another major problem is
crowding. According to psychologists people who live amid crowding are more likely to experience stress
and depression and to engage in aggressive behavior or be victimized by it.
But of course, none of those problems mentioned before stops people from visiting capital cities and I’m
not an exception. A capital city that I would like to visit is Tokyo. I am fascinated by the traditional tree
of Japan that is Sakura. There is just something about those pink Sakura blossoms that mesmerizes me.
And Tokyo happens to have one of the best spots to view Sakuras bloom. The spot is located in the
Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. I am also really interested in Japanese culture and Tokyo has an
exceptional Sensoji temple where spectacular performances with traditional Japanese clothes and dishes
are held from time to time.
My country's capital is Vilnius and as with any other capital city, it has a lot of foreigners visiting it. I
think the most visited place by tourists in Vilnius is the Gediminas Tower. Yes, it is one of the best places
to see the magnificent panoramas of Vilnius but I would recommend visiting the Mo museum because
this museum is not like the others located in the city of Vilnius. It is a museum filled with modern art
created by Lithuanian artists. Another place that I would recommend visiting is the old town of Vilnius.
Not only you can experience the beautiful architecture, but also grab a cup of coffee or something to eat
on the way.
In summary, I can say that although capital cities can be crowded and can have a lot of traffic they are
worth visiting.
