SEMI – DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 8

Name of Teacher: Alyssa Joy AD. Bagsic

Grade and Section/s: Date and Time: February 16 - 17, 2023
8 – Riemann 11:00 – 12:00
8 – Pythagoras 2:00 – 3:00
8 – Descartes 3:00 – 4:00

Quarter: 3
I. OBJECTIVE/S:
Content Standard
The learner demonstrates an understanding of key concepts of the axiomatic structure of geometry and triangle
congruence.

Performance Standard
The learner is able to formulate an organized plan to handle a real-life situation. and to
communicate mathematical thinking with coherence and clarity in formulating, investigating, analyzing, and solving real-
life problems involving congruent triangles using appropriate and accurate representations.
Learning Competencies
At the end of the session, the learner…

1.describe mathematical system; (M8GE - IIIa – 1)

2. identify the different axiomatic structures of a mathematical system; theorems;

3. illustrate mathematical systems, and illustrate a mathematical system following an axiomatic structure
4. Relate the lesson to a real-life situation

II. CONTENT:

A. ENGAGE

Yesterday, we have discussed Postulates. Can you recite what are those postulates?

Look at the figure below,

Guided Questions:

a) How do the two planes intersect?

b) Is line l coplanar with Plane V or W?

c) Are R and Q collinear?

d) What point is non-coplanar with either plane?

e) List three coplanar points in Plane W.

B. EXPLORE

Guided Questions:

1. What do you know about Theorems?

2. Do you have any idea how many theorems for the Mathematical System?

3. How do the figures below intersect?

Note that Intersection is a point or set of points where lines, planes, segments, or rays cross each other.

Solution:

1. The first three figures intersect at a point, P, Q, and R, respectively.

2. The fourth figure, two planes, intersect in a line, l.

3. And the last figure, three planes, intersect at one point, S.

C. EXPLAIN

THEOREMS- A theorem is a statement that can be proven. Once a theorem is proven, it can also be used as a reason for
proving other statements.

Theorem 1. If two lines intersect, then they intersect at exactly one point.

Theorem 2. If a point lies outside a line, then exactly one plane contains both the line and the point.

Theorem 3. If two lines intersect, then exactly one plane contains both lines.
Do you have any questions?

D. ELABORATE

Analyze the given statement. Tell what postulates or theorems describe the following.

Theorems
1. One plane contains lines m and n. If two lines intersect, then exactly one plane contains
both lines. (Theorem 3)

2. Lines s and t intersect at M at no other If two lines intersect, then they intersect at exactly
point. one point. (Theorem 1)
3. One plane contains line AB and D. If a point lies outside a line, then exactly one plane
contains both the line and the point. (Theorem 2)

E. EVALUATE

Illustrate the following.

1. XY and ZA intersect at point M.

2. Line f and e intersect at C at no other point.
3. One plane contains EF and point M.

VI. REMARKS:

VII. REFLECTION:

A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation

B. No. of learners who require additional activities for

remediation

C. Did the remedial lesson work? No. of learners who have

caught up with the lesson

D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation

E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did this

work?

F. What difficulties did I encounter that my principal or

supervisor can help me solve?

G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover

that I wish to share with other teachers?
