Formal language:

It is used when writing for professional or academic purposes like university assignments, job
letters or company emails, etc. Formal language does not use colloquialisms, contractions or
first person pronouns such as ‘I’ or ‘We’. Formal language uses complete sentences with correct
grammar structure.

Informal language:

It is used when we’re at a party or on when we're using social media. More commonly it is used
when we're speaking with friends or family members. We can use short words, idioms, phrases
etc.

Examples of formal and informal.

1.Formal: They will be attending the meeting tomorrow.

Informal: They’ll attend the meeting tomorrow.

2.Formal: I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Informal: Sorry!
