Designed For The Driver
Built To Perform
The instant you step into the cab of the Condor, you’ll be amazed
at the uncompromising driver ergonomics. Never before has a
manufacturer built a refuse truck from the ground up to provide
the driver with the necessary tools and comfort to increase
performance and profitability.
First of all, the low-to-the-ground cab height and two-step
entry/exit, along with full-length grab handles make it easy to get
in and out of the cab hundreds of times a day, reducing accident
potential and increasing driver safety.
Inside the spacious, no-nonsense cab, you’ll immediately
recognize the advantages of a truck designed with the driver in
mind. With over 47 square feet of glass in the truck, your visibility
of the curb and the road is increased dramatically. An oversized
flat floor and dash mounted steering column that tilts and tele-
scopes, provides plenty of belly and boot room allowing you to
comfortably operate the truck. Steering column mounted
instrumentation offers line of sight control while you put the
Condor through its paces.
The neatly organized dash features large face, non-glare gauges
intelligently grouped and positioned for quick and easy monitoring.
In addition to convenient dash appointments like rocker or paddle
switches, there are easy to operate radio and HVAC controls, the
Condor has more driver friendly amenities like dual auxiliary
defroster fans, six defroster ports across the full windshield width,
electric windows and even cup holders.
The cab environment of the Condor clearly illustrates
Freightliner’s commitment to providing the driver with more
comfort and control to promote maximum performance during
the long stop and start hours on the route.

With a maximum 18 inches step-in height, the Condor is easy to get in and out of all

Service points are easily reached while standing on the ground at back of the cab.
■ Heavy-Duty Durability
The Condor is built for the rough duty you experience
every day. Its front axle and front suspension is designed
for over-load situations when a full dumpster is hoisted
over the cab into the packer. Equipped with Freightliner’s
TufTrac rear suspension system, the Condor delivers
maximum payloads while maintaining all wheel ground
contact for the most traction and control. To satisfy
Federal Bridge Law standards and to increase profitability,
a variety of pusher/tag lift axles can also be specified.

■ Simple to Service
Like all Freightliner vocational trucks, the Condor has been
designed to minimize downtime. Unlike any other low cab
forward design, the Condor’s cab tilts forward 42-degrees –
allowing you full access to the engine from behind the
cab. Service points, such as transmission fill and check,
engine oil fill and check, power steering reservoir and air
cleaner, are back of the cab and easy to reach. The radiator
is set back from the front of the truck to reduce clogging
and can be removed vertically from the chassis without
removing the cab. With many other service free components,
you’ll spend more time on the route than in the shop.

■ Integrated Electronics
Fluid levels are easily checked and filled at the service module back of cab. The built-in flexibility of the Condor’s integrated electrical
system further demonstrates Freightliner’s foresight in
the design and manufacture of a solid, heavy duty truck
for refuse pick-up routes.
Straight forward and easy to understand, the electrical
system and wiring harnesses are readily accessible and
feature quick disconnects to help facilitate easy body
installation and diagnostics. Wiring raceways in the cab
include easily removable panels which provide a protected
pathway, yet are easy to remove for adding circuits and
making service inspections.

■ A Tough Duty Cab

Crash Test requirements. The cab roof is designed to
withstand point loads of over 300 pounds. HENROB®
fasteners on the corners provide added durability and a
clean look. Cab doors are hung on cast iron hinges with
graphite impregnated bronze bushings with 3/8" diameter
stainless steel pins for easy adjustment and years of
rough service without replacement. With a maximum of
18 inches step-in height, getting in and out of the low
entry Condor cab is easy.
