TOPIC 11

1. Discussion Forum on Research recommendations

Research recommendations

Recommendations will take the form of proposals for prospective beneficiaries to put the

research findings into action. These proposals should be founded on the study results and

conclusions, flow logically from the conclusions, be relevant and in accordance with the goal and

scope of the research, and be realistic, practical, attainable, and acceptable.

The study recommended that;

To boost electricity availability and access in rural and semi-urban regions, the government

should invest more money in rural electrification projects. Simply put, people cannot utilize

mobile money systems if they do not have a consistent source of electricity to charge their

phones. Restricted access to power reduces the amount of individuals who can embrace and

utilize mobile money(Alhassan et al., 2020, p 17 par 3).

The government should also reduce the expenses associated with obtaining access to energy,

particularly for residents of towns and villages that are not linked to the national grid. Such

mobile phone users are forced to travel vast distances to acquire energy in order to keep their

phones operational (Alhassan et al., 2020).

The unbanked often lack basic financial education and an understanding of the consumer

protections they are afforded. The government should protect people through client education

and consumer protection measures and enact rules to safeguard mobile money users from

exploitation by telecom service providers. Rules indicate that people's investments are safe and

that they may engage in lawful and competitive business(Alhassan et al., 2020, p 17 par 4).
Telecom firms could participate in corporate social responsibility and community outreach

activities to encourage consumers to use mobile money platforms and boost brand reputation.

This, in turn, will impact one's inclinations to embrace and continue utilizing mobile

money(Alhassan et al., 2020, p 18 par 1).

The government should invest in infrastructure development, such as decent roads, to allow for

the safe carriage of telecommunications line equipment, such as mast equipment. As a result, the

network's quality would increase (Alhassan et al., 2020, p 18 par 3).

Telecommunications businesses should invest in internet, television, and radio advertising to

raise public awareness of current digital products that may be enjoyed using mobile phones.

Awareness about mobile phones may boost their use(Alhassan et al., 2020, p 17 par 4).

To encourage consumer acceptance and continued use of mobile money, there should be

organizational support. The government together with the telecommunications companies should

encourage the food and household product retailers to accept mobile money payments. This will

allow the financially excluded to utilise mobile money to purchase basic necessities from local

retail outlets, resulting in day-to-day payment benefits and increased mobile money usage.

However, in order for consumers to pay using a mobile wallet, business owners must also have a

mobile wallet (Alhassan et al., 2020, p 18 par 3).

The suggestions were from Chapter 6 (Discussion and Implications), and they are completely

applicable to the research.
