How to Draw a Bird

Children and adults of all ages can learn how to draw these fun,
adorable birds. Our step-by-step guide is easy to follow.

Step 1: Start by drawing the bird’s body. Make a wider


head to the right and a narrow tail lower on the
left. Make three loops on the left to show tail
feathers. Add two straight lines for legs.

Step 2: Draw a half circle on the inside bottom right of


the body. Add an upside-down teardrop shape
for a wing.

Step 3: Add a black dot for an eye and a triangle for


the beak.

Step 4: Draw a swirl on top of the head for a feather.


Finish with little dots on the bottom half circle.

Step 1: Draw the owl body and add two legs with an
extra line on each side for the toes.

Step 2: Add feathers on each side of the body, and add


tufts to the top of each ear.

Step 3: Draw circles for the eyes, with small circles in


each. Fill in part of each inner circle, but leave
a white spot as shown. Add a tail and another
layer to each side feather.

Step 4: Add a beak, another layer to the side feathers,


and short dashes around the body to symbolize
feathers. Color and enjoy!

Step 1: Draw a turkey body. Be sure to make the


neck tall and long, and add small “waves”
for the first layer of feathers.

Step 2: Add a second layer of feathers. Draw them


taller and wider than the first.

Step 3: Draw two legs and feet (three small lines). Add
a side wing and feathers to the turkey.

Step 4: Add a final layer of back feathers in front of the


first, with small circles. Draw a beak, eye, and
wattle (below the beak) on your turkey. Finally, add
a wavy line at the bottom of the neck to represent
the turkey’s caruncles.

Step 1: Draw your penguin body with one flipper on


the left. Make the body wider at the bottom
and narrower on top.

Step 2: Add a second flipper to the right side.

Step 3: Draw two feet and color them black. Make the
left one stick out by adding a webbed effect.

Step 4: Draw and color the crown, adding eyes and leaving
a white spot for a nose. Some penguins have spots
or stripes, so add those if you want!
