Win a chance to be featured in the 2012 Silver Project calendar! How to Enter:
Submit your photos to submit@thesilverproject.org MUST BE SUBMITTED BY OCTOBER 15th!

12 winners will be selected for inclusion in The Silver Projects 2012 calendar
with all net proceeds going to the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation!

THE MISSION
The Silver Projects hope is simple: mobilize a social network to help those in need. In 2010, a calendar of photography was created to benefit the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation. Almost overnight, The Silver Project had gone viral. 15 days later, over 1,000 calendars were sold and more than $25,000 was raised This year, we are even more committed to our mission: Motivate. Inspire. Remind. Give Back.

THE CONTEST
What inspires you to give back? How do you live life to the fullest? What do you have to say about cancer? Capture those feelingsthrough photography, art, and designand send your submissions to submit@thesilverproject.org by October 15th.

THE JUDGES
Submissions will be collected and reviewed by The Silver Project creators until Oct 15, at which point well hand them off to our esteemed group of judges from the media world: Dan Peres, Editor in Chief of Details magazine Brian Marcus, NYC photographer extraordinaire Jamie Shupak, Emmy-nominated NY-1 traffic reporter The top 12 submissions will be chosen for inclusion in our 2012 Silver Project calendar, with all net proceeds benefiting the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation.

THE CAUSE
100% of the net proceeds will again be donated to the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation. Gift of Life has only one purpose: to help save lives. For people afflicted with severe blood disorders such as leukemia, a transplant is often their only chance of survival. While some patients are lucky enough to find a match within their families, those that do not, must turn to the national registry as a last hope. While the registry has millions of people in it, the chances of finding a match are slim. Through our 2010 campaign, TSP funded over 350 swabbing kits to be processed and entered into the national registry. Registering these kits is essential for medical professionals to find bone marrow matches for transplant patients. Amazingly, TSP achieved instant success! Earlier this year, we learned that one of the very kits sponsored by TSP was a perfect match for a patient in need and is on its way to saving a life! On the heels of this success, we have decided this year to once again donate the net proceeds from TSP to the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation.

MEET THE CREATORS

Stacey Lewis is a sales leader in the promotional product industry in New York. After losing her father Don to Leukemia in February 2009, she made a commitment to push his legacy forward in the fashion he would if he were alive. With this in mind, along with her creativity and resources, she was inspired to create the 2011 Silver Project calendar. Stephanie Markell is an Associate Creative Director at H4B Chelsea, in New York City. Through her friendship with Stacey, and her love of photography, the 2011 Silver Project featured 12 of her photographs. This year, shes thrilled to invite everyone else to join The Silver Projects mission of reaching and inspiring thousands through images and art. Jason Lewis is Head of Business Development and Investor Relations at Dabroes, a New York based hedge fund firm he helped form in 2008. The loss of his father, Don, initially inspired Jason's passion for The Silver Project, but his motivation was further bolstered after being picked in 2009 as a perfect match for someone in need of a bone marrow transplant. While ultimately he was not called upon to donate, Jasons hunger to give back was amplified by this experience. He captured his inspiration in the 2010 short writing "The One in Seven Million Story. Avi Karesh is possibly the first person ever to give and receive the gift of life, both via the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation; having successfully donated in 2007, and more recently as the recipient of a stem cell transplant while he fought his own battle Leukemia. Post-transplant Avi is doing well and back at work at BlackRock, where he advises families and foundations on their investment portfolios. He lives in New York with his wife and 5-year-old daughter.
