A. Observe the physical characteristics of your computer and answer the following
questions:

1. Does the outside of the case have any identification on it indicating manufacturers,
model, or component information? If so, list this information:
Yes, it does contain the mentioned information. The model of my laptop is No.
N20C12. The manufacturing company is Acer and the production date is 2021/10/07.

2. Enumerate the different input device(s) connected to your PC.


Mouse, Touch Pad, Keyboard

3. How many output device(s)?


It contains five output devices.

4. Does your PC have a CPU? Why do you think so?


Yes, my laptop has a CPU. It is because the CPU is the brain of the laptop.
It provides the necessary instruction and the processing power in order for the computer
to work or function.

5. How many CD or DVD drives does your system have?


My laptop does not contain CD or DVD drives.

6. How many ports are there on your PC? How many USB ports?
My laptop contains seven ports. It has four USB ports.

7. Are there any peripheral devices connected to your system? Enumerate them.
Yes, there are peripheral devices connected to my laptop. It has monitor,
Keyboard, mouse, touch pad, sound card, webcam , printer and speaker.

8. How many internal hard drives does your system have? Explain how you got your
answer.
My laptop has one internal drive. I saw that it has C drive which is represented as
C:\ that is considered as the primary hard drive of my laptops system.

9. Look at the back of your PC, and list all ports and the specific device connected to it.
It has two USB Type-C ports where you can plug speakers, two USB Type-A
ports for wired keyboards, an HDMI for media streamers ,a combo jack for audio,
and a charger port for charging the laptop.

10. Is your computer connected to a network?


Yes, it is connected to a network.

B. Boot your PC and log on, if necessary. Click Start, and then click Control Panel to open
the Control Panel window. Open the System applet and record the following information:

1. What OS is installed and what is the version number?


The OS installed is Windows operating system and it is version 21H2.

2. Have any service packs been installed?


Yes, there is service packs installed.

3. What kind of CPU (type and speed) is installed in your system?


It is AMD Ryzen 5 installed to the system.

4. How much RAM is installed in your system?


It contains 8.00 GB RAM.

At this point, click Start and click Computer and locate the following information:

1. How many hard disk drives are listed, and which drive letters are assigned to them?
It has one drive that is listed as C:\.

2. Determine the total capacity of your hard drive.


It has 475 GB capacity.

3. What is the the total amount of free hard drive space on your system?
It has 361 GB free hard drive space in my system.

4. How many devices with removal storage are listed, and which drive letters are assigned
to them?
A flashdrive which is listed as E:\.
Now open Device Manager applet in the Control Panel and fill in the following chart:

1. What are the four basic components of the computer system?


The four basic components of a computer system is memory unit, control unit, arithmetic
and logical unit.

2. What differences, if any, are there between a list of components derived from a physical
inspection versus a list of components derived from System and Computer properties.

Physical inspection gives access to hardware while computer system is more on information on
hardware and software.
