 Transportation execution requires several organizational units. These units reflect the
organizational structure of the company.
 A company code is a self-contained unit with its own financial accounting. The company code is the
organizational unit for which a complete set of accounts is drawn up (a subsidiary within a group, for
example).
 Plants are organizational units that sub-divide a company code from a logistics point of view. A
plant produces goods or provides goods for distribution (production plant, distribution center, for
example). Each plant is assigned to a single company code.
 In terms of Inventory Management, plants are sub-divided into storage locations (material storage
area, finished products storage area, or open storage area, for example).
 The most important organizational units for shipping are the shipping points. They represent the
location or the group of people responsible for carrying out shipping activities. Each delivery is
processed by a single shipping point. Shipping points are assigned to one or several plants.
 Transportation planning points process shipments. They are assigned to one company code and
are not linked to the other organizational units.

 The transportation planning point is the central point within the company that organizes and
monitors shipments. It can be a location or a group of people responsible for shipment processing.
 Each shipment is created and processed by a transportation planning point.
 You can freely define the transportation planning points to meet your corporate requirements, for
example, in terms of the location or the mode of transport.
 The transportation planning point is defined for a specific company code in Customizing. The
assignment of a transportation planning point to a company code is important for shipment cost
calculation and settlement (automatic account determination in FI).

0.24Exercises

Unit: Basics
Topic: Master Data

At the conclusion of this exercise, you will be able to:

 Create vehicles
 Take into account compatibility checks
 Use vehicle meters
GOIL is an oil company that does not have its own truck and ship fleet,
but it holds master data of trucks and vessels in its R/3 System. This is
mainly due to the fact that it wants to do its scheduling on compartment
level. Another reason is that trucks need to fulfill certain requirements
when they deliver to customers.

Throughout all of the exercises, the use of <##> represents your

group number.

1-1 Build a truck with the following specifications:

The truck consists of a mover and a trailer (transport units). The trailer has got 6
compartments. It should be possible that each of these compartments can be filled
with 6000L of an oil product. The first 4 compartments may only contain fuels,
whereas the others can be filled with Diesel.
1-1-1 Create the transport unit MOVER-## using the following specifications:
Transport Unit: MOVER-##
Transport Unit Type: RDPM
Give the mover the name: Mover of group## .
The mover should have a maximum weight of 1000KG.

1-1-2 Create the transport unit TRAIL-## using the following specifications:
Transport Unit: TRAIL-##
Transport Unit Type: RDTL
Give the Trailer the name: Trailer of group##
The mover should have a maximum weight of 39000KG

© SAP AG IOG330 3-25

Maintain the compartments:
- 6 times with a maximum volume of 6000L
- the first 4 compartments may carry fuels (Compatibility group)
- the last 2 compartments may carry Diesel (Compatibility group)

1-1-3 Build the vehicle TRUCK-##.

Vehicle number: TRUCK-##
Vehicle type: TRUC
Give the vehicle the name: Truck of group##
Length 10
Width 4
Height 3
Dimension Unit of Measure M

Assign the transport units MOVER-## and TRAIL-## to the vehicle using the
Transport Unit button.

1-2 Create an ocean going ship (vessel) with the following specifications: The vessel
consists of 7 compartments. It should be possible that each of these compartments
can be filled with 20000L fuels. Furthermore, a vehicle meter should be assigned to
each compartment in order to handle the measurements on board.

1-2-1 Create a vehicle meter VEMET-## using the following specifications:

Vehicle Meter: VEMET-##
Name of VEMET-##: Vehicle meter of group## .
UoM: L15
Nr. of digits: 6
Start reading: 1
Recalibration Details:
Date: today
Valid until: today + 1 year
Met. Start: 1
Met. End: 2

© SAP AG IOG330 3-26

1-2-2 Create the transport unit SHIP-## using the following specifications:
Transport Unit: SHIP-##
Transport Unit Type: MASU
Give the ship-## the name: Ship of group## .
The ship should have a maximum weight of 15000TO.
Maintain the compartments:
- 7 times with a maximum volume of 20000L.
- each compartment may carry fuels (Compatibility group)
Maintain the meter:
- add your vehicle meter VEMET-## and assign to all compartments

1-2-3 Build the vehicle VESSEL-##.

Vehicle number: VESSEL-##
Vehicle type: SHIP
Give the vehicle the name: Vessel of group##
Weight unit of measure TO
Assign the transport unit SHIP-## .
Save the vehicle.
