able to provide communities with diverse groups of low-carbon food (e.g., functional
foods, fortified food and cheaper storage technologies). Prior research has
highlighted that food aid programmes are more sustainable when community access
to these programmes is not means-tested (i.e., your income does not define whether
or not you get access to food from these centres).

developing requirements include having to consider ECO labeling outputs, EPR
packaging obligations, sustainability reporting, ESG outputs and other supply chain
considerations. There are further developments being driven by both government,
consumer and retailer agendas. Our idea Is to understand and develop these
requirements further, and to incorporate them into the design and development
process through practical and relevant functionality within our software, delivering
our client a leading edge capability to address the key food development issues of
the day.

We have developed a new flour mill with a small carbon footprint which gives people
access to custom made fresh ground flour in just six minutes. With this technology
we have created an end to end digital ecosystem that will make fresh flour
accessible to all.Benefits of Floura:- People can have the freshest flour whenever
they want.- It reduces packaging material waste as we use reusable packaging
bags.- It reduces the waste involved in discarding the packaged flours due to expiry
and damage.- Customers can easily place their order online or just walk in our store
to purchase the freshest flour there is. - Customers can select their grain type,
fineness of the flour as per their choice and create their own DIY flour.

Project idea?
We see Phoebe to become a smart and educational cooking assistant which will
provide meal plans and recipes based on personal preferences and dietary
requirements. It will integrate easy to busy lifestyles, making home cooking
achievable by assisting with shopping and recipe suggestions, similar to Spotify for
music, it will know the user and only suggest relevant recipes.
Challenges?
With the integration of AI and machine learning we want to app to become a smart
cooking assistant that can provide recipes based on a shopping list or photography
of ingredients for example.

I would like to establish a 'proof of concept' food chain that uses block-chain or other
traceability technology to inform consumers about the origin and nutrient density of
the food that they are buying, and thereby motivates farms to innovate to support
consumers' dietary aspirations.
Challenges?
The main challenge is likely to be in product labelling and easy consumer
communication about individual nutrients and their 'density'.

What collaborator are you looking for?
Food suppliers who see value in characterising the nutrient density of their food
products, ideally starting with foods from grain crops, and companies with
ready-to-use traceability technologies.

patients with suspected infection or inflammation, a definitive diagnosis is not always
reached. The EU-funded DIAMONDS project will develop a new diagnostic
classification of infectious and inflammatory diseases. This new approach, which the
project calls 'personalised molecular signature diagnosis' (PMSD), will be based on
the discriminatory ability of a minimal set of genes able to distinguish all common
conditions simultaneously. Specifically, the project will develop a device to detect
genes required for PMSD. It will do so in partnership with 22 hospitals in 11 EU
countries and biotechnology groups in academia, SMEs and industry.

we are looking to develop further the technical areas of interest in order to generate
more in-demand and novel methods and services that would, in turn, allow us to
better support those working across the food and drinks value chain. Clients are
increasingly looking for offerings such as clean label ingredients, allergen

Functional foods: foods with specific health benefits
Project idea?
~In the last couple of years, I developed a bespoke approach to climate and
nutrition. Through my practical nutrition classes, people have fun and they can
understand 'by doing' and commence to regenerate themselves, together with the
planet. The understanding of micronutrition for me should be an educational corner
stone for every person on a planet affected everywhere by soil depletion. It can be
considered as a discipline in its own right. The study of the impact of micronutrients
(vitamins, minerals, trace elements, fatty acids, amino acids, fibres) on human health
- and soil - represents a very useful and effective tool to better support the various
functions of restoration of the body and of soil, but it is also essential to a true
circular economy narrative.

Functional foods: foods with specific health benefits
Project idea?
We have three mature technologies that we wish to translate into commercial
products:1. Fortified salads for vertical farm production - we seek a grower and
retailer as partners2. A Vitamin D enriched tomato developed using gene editing -
we seek a grower and retailer as partners3. A nutritionally enriched ready meal
suitable for food banks - we seek growers and a contract food manufacturer as
partners
Challenges?
The markets for nutritionally enriched foods are not well developed. The challenge is
to develop the correct economic models that will enable these foods to come to
market at costs that will ensure accessibility to the poorest in our community.
