Classifying Polynomials Sorting Activity Instructions 1. Grab one piece of paper per group to collect your answers. 2. Begin by picking out 4 of the long classification strips. Lay these on the table in front of you. e.g. linear binomial, 10" degree polynomial, etc. 3. You will create the described polynomial using the squares with terms printed on them on the table in front of you. e.g. -5x?, +10x4, -14 4. Make sure that the polynomial you create is in standard form. Standard form is when the term with the highest degree is listed first, and the next terms are written in descending order. e.g. +2x*-10x"#17x-8 (This is a cubic polynomial) 5. Once you finish the first 4 classifications, get them checked for accuracy before you begin the last 4 classifications.
