2023 NCBA Trade Show Prospect Mailing

Tactics – Direct Mailing/Direct Response

The mailing discussed in this submission was initiated to reach prospective companies to
become exhibitors in the NCBA Trade Show. The mailing allowed us to position information about the
NCBA Trade Show in front of companies that matched our target audience.

The NCBA Trade Show has seen an increase in

exhibiting companies over the last five years. In terms of total
square footage, the 2022 NCBA Trade Show marked the
largest show to date. In order to continue the increasing
trend, we look at the 2022 post-convention survey to
determine where we had the most opportunities for growth.
When looking at the survey, we considered two key pieces of
information; what types of companies exhibit at the NCBA
Trade Show and what products attendees are looking for.
Our evaluation showed three key product types had the
greatest growth potential: animal health products, animal
ID/electronic ID products, and computer technology. After
determining that these three areas had the greatest Table 1: Results from 2022 NCBA Post
opportunity for growth, we decided to focus our target Convention Survey
audience on companies that met one of the three product
categories.

Once the target audience was narrowed down, we began creating the materials needed for the
mailing. The mailing consisted of four pieces: an invitation to exhibit, an Exhibitor Prospectus brochure,
a Partnership Opportunities brochure, and a 2023 Exhibitor Booth Contract. The invitation allowed us to
start the conversation with the company without having to send a cold call or email. The Exhibitor
Prospectus and Partnership brochure allowed us to communicate all the possibilities available to
exhibitors at the trade show. Typically, we only accept electronic contracts. However, for the mailing, we
wanted to make the decision for these companies to exhibit as easy as possible by providing each of the
steps needed to become an exhibitor.

To determine our success, we measured the response

we received from inquiries, booths sold, and the 2023 post-
convention survey. Following the mailing, we noticed an influx
of calls and emails inquiring about the booth availability in the
show. This proved to us that companies were responsive to the
mailing and achieved our expected response. For the first time
since pre-pandemic times, the 2023 NCBA Trade Show was
100% sold out with 19% of companies being first time
exhibitors. Evaluating the post-convention survey we noticed a
shift in the results. The percentage of animal ID/electronic ID
companies increased from 4% to 7%, while animal health Table 2: Results from the 2023 NCBA Post
products decreased from 18% to 12%. Overall, we determined Convention Survey

that the influx in inquires, upsell in booth space, and shift in

interests vs. products shown reflected a positive result for the campaign. We determined there is still
room for growth in the areas of animal ID/electronic ID, animal health products, and now
associations/organizations/government agencies allowing us room to continue to grow the show.
