What is nkoda? nkoda is an ecosystem of tools and services created to

empower music-making. We build apps and products.

There are two apps in the ecosystem:

The nkoda library app currently has over 100,000 titles

comprised of scores, parts and educational materials.
All licensed directly from publishers.

The nkoda music reader is a next-generation score

reading app, designed to make working on digital
scores as fluid and intuitive as possible. It’s free to
use and supports content from the nkoda library,
along with personal uploads.

nkoda is for all musicians, at any stage of their creative

life, no matter who they are. Giving musicians fair
access to musical materials and information was our
founding principle.

We believe that great, simple product design empowers

music-making, and that musicians are made, not born.

We offer custom subscription packages to suit all types

of institutions. Inside this booklet you’ll find more
information about nkoda, and how to book a one-month
free trial or a meeting to learn more.

to organise materials for lessons and performances.
The library’s sharing features include:

powerful solutions – here’s a list: We wanted to make it a pleasure to use, on both
a functional and aesthetic level.
We’ve created toolboxes for every kind of
musician, containing the annotation tools
needed for marking up their scores and parts.
Multiple toolboxes can be used simultaneously
and can be docked anywhere on the screen’s
edge, or left as floating toolboxes.
It’s completely customisable: musicians can
change all important parameters to suit their
needs, including page-scroll speeds and layouts,
as well as border sizes. They can also build
their own toolboxes.
All tools and preset musical symbols are
editable: size, colour and opacity can
be changed.
Multiple annotation layers can be created for
each score, and can be labelled and managed
for simple collaboration.
For institutional partners, we offer unlimited
upload storage – completely for free. You can
use the same authentication mechanisms that
you would for our library app.

Our publishing partners We have spent the last five years building close
relationships with our publishing partners.

As well as working with major publishers, we work

with many specialist publishing houses to offer lesser-
known music to the widest possible audience.

We also work with a content aggregator that provides

any composer with the opportunity to distribute their
music to a global community of musicians. We see
providing a platform for those who may have struggled
to find a viable distribution mechanism in the past as
an essential task; ensuring that composers, no matter
their background or means, can be fairly remunerated
for their work.
