Critical Analysis

A. Importance of the research

The problem has been clearly and significantly stated in the sense that it puts the

problem in the context to demonstrate what we already know. It also describes the precise

problem that it intends to address, and this explains the existing knowledge gap that we need

to know, and lastly, it explains why we need to know the relationship that exists between

poverty and school performance. In addition, the paper has clearly proposed the hypothesis

by clearly defining the topic to be studied, and the focus of the study. This is, how programs

designed to reduce food security for targeted children can improve their school performance.

B. Methodology

The sample used in the research paper was representative since it considered a

population of 50 children to reflect the characteristics of targeted children in the larger group.

However, it was not descriptive since it did not describe the situation of the

socioeconomically disadvantaged children. The research paper identifies the type of method

used to be qualitative and the method that was used to gather data to be survey questions. It

also describes the procedure of data collection and the selection criteria. According to

Bengtsson, (2016), for qualitative research, a survey is a good data collecting method since it

is capable of pulling diverse and profound feedback from the respondents.

C. Data Analysis

The research paper does not present to the readers any method that was used to

analyze the data collected, and this is one of the biggest limitations of the research paper

since it makes the readers doubt the credibility of the research. Nevertheless, the findings

were presented thoroughly presenting the correlation between the identified variables. But it

did not compare the results of the experiment group and those of the control group to make a

judgment.

D. Conclusion

The conclusion of the research paper has used the evidence from the findings to

justify the hypothesis and thus it is clearly stated and substantiated. It also presents the reader

with an overall understanding of the research problem.

E. Academic writing style

The research has used formal and impersonal language since it has not used

contractions, colloquial, and first-person pronouns. The paper has also minimized the use of

phrasal verbs and redundant words to avoid complexity and ambiguity in language

F. Grammer Usage

The research has a few grammatical mistakes specifically in the literature review part

where a comma is omitted in the second statement and poor referencing on the last statement

in the same section.
