WATERLOGGING

 WHAT IS THE ISSUE ?
Once there was an issue relating to
waterlogging in our society which
was a matter of concern for all of us.
The water was there around 3 to 3.5
feet. It was when the monsoon had
just arrived in pondicherry. Cyclones
and heavy rains where common
during the monsoon in pondicherry.
In the year 2020 we faced nivar cyclone in november
where it rained very heavily for a day with heavy winds and
rains where we recorded more than 200mm of rain during
the occurance of cyclone. We have witnessed such
problem many a times before and we face water logging
every time.
 PROBLEMS FACED
During the time of waterlogging no one was able to go
out of their homes.
The water was entered into everyones houses .
There was no electricity in any of the houses.
Many roads were damaged during waterlogging.
Many plants were also damaged and street dogs didn't
have places to stay safe.
 SOLUTIONS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS
Many drainages were cleaned beforehand to prevent
waterlogging.
No one in the society was allowed to throw wastage in
the roads or drainages.
Rainwater was removed from the soil surfaces to
prevent rise in water level.
Preventive measures were taken by the government as
well as by the society members before happening of
any such things.

All the potholes were filled in the roads by the

government after a group meeting held by all the
society members.
 WHAT ARE THE LESSONS I LEARNED ?

The lesson i learned is that never take any situation for

granted whatever the situation it is and take all the
preventive measures wherever it is necessary.

"One small mistake may lead to a big problem" so always

be careful and alert.
