the first weeks of March in warm Ica, 4 hours from Lima, the popular

a curious festival on June 29, Saint Peter's Day: the Battle of Wine.

What is about?

Both festivities have wine as the main attraction, in the Hano

festival, consists of a walk where people get wet with wine until they
are completely purple.

In the grape harvest festival, it consists of celebrating the grape

harvest and the preparation of wines and piscos, making this event
very special in the locality. Both celebrations are intended to attract
more tourism and make known their customs and economic
activities of each locality where each event is celebrated.

Origins:

The Battle of Haro Wine originated in the 6th century, after the death
of San Felices de Bilibio. The Vendimia in Ica is a traditional and
customary activity that dates back to colonial times with pre-Inca
customs.

Importance:

The importance of carrying out a "Vedimia" in Ica is to seek to raise

the quality of the grapes from this region. It is thanks to its grape
varieties that derived products such as wine, pisco, sparkling wine
and cachina with great body and flavor are obtained.

There is also a tradition similar to the Vendimia, which is the wine

battle in Spain, which is very important for the town of San Pedro,
where this event takes place.

The objective is to bathe your partner in wine, until you manage to

leave him more purple.
