Upwork: The financial transactions of your account has been limited

Is the financial transaction of your Upwork account limited? Don’t worry. You are not alone.

Upwork has been limiting and suspending accounts since it was Odesk, but it has since then tightened
the knot.

But why limit the financial transactions?

The Upwork support team has been instructed not to reveal the reason as to why they limit accounts.
Instead, they demand a reason as to why you think they took that step. The only “favor” they can do to
you is warn you that your answer will determine their next step of action. Such a response gets many of
us confused, worried and maybe frustrated. But they cannot keep that as a secret anymore.

Limiting Financial Transactions

It is blatant that the Upwork team nowadays tracks the IP address one uses to log in to his/her account
in relation to the first IP address one used.

That is why they always demand a copy of your scanned ID and a bank statement to confirm your
identity, and real location.

Some few honest support team members will tell you the reason as to why they limit accounts
nowadays, but they rarely reveal such information.

You will get a message that goes something like, “We have limited the financial transactions of your
account because we noticed you logged in from USA, China, Kenya and Australia using different IP
addresses”. This is what they call “Irregular Activities” ladies and gentlemen.

Way Forward:

Let them know that you use a VPN or you logged in from a different IP address or a cyber café, but
promise to stop doing that.

They will then request for a copy of your scanned ID, a utility bill and a bank statement, bearing names
that match those on your Upwork account. You can also send them any relevant documents such as
certificates, even if they never requested for them.

Your account should be restored shortly after that.

Be blessed!
