Types of Magnet Uses:

This train uses superconducting

electric magnets in the vehicle to
levitate and propel the train. These
magnets are cooled by liquid helium
or liquid nitrogen. This means that
once electrified these magnets do not
require additional energy.
The magnetized coil running along the track,
called a guideway, alowing the train to
levitate between 0.39 and 3.93 inches above
the guideway. Once the train is levitated,
power is supplied to the coils within the
guideway walls to create a unique system of
magnetic fields that pull or push the train
along the guideway.
Train Track
The electric current supplied to the coils in
the guideway wall is constantly alternating to
change the polarity of the magnetized coils.
This change in polarity causes the magnetic
field in front of the train to pull the vehicle
forward, while the magnetic field behind the
train add more forward thrusts.
➢According to HowStuffWorks, the
bullet train, also referred to as the
maglev train, works with the use of
powerful magnets, metal coils and a
large electrical power source.

➢Maglev is a term that stands for

How does
magnetic levitation, which refers to
how bullet trains quickly glide across

the Bullet railways.

➢Magnetic levitation is based on the

train scientific principle of
electromagnetic suspension, or EMS.
work? EMS relies on the natural law in
physics that opposite poles attract.

➢Maglev trains appear to float above

the track because the force of the
magnets creates no friction between
the train and the track.
➢The electromagnets on the underside
of the train pull it up to the
ferromagnetic stators on the track and

Support levitate the train.

➢The magnet on the side keeps the train

System from moving from side to side.

➢A computer changes the amount of

current to keep the train 1 cm from the
track.

Safety:

➢The trains are virtually impossible to

derail because the train wrapped
around the track.

➢Collisions between trains are

unlikely because computers are
controlling the train movements .
Application Maintenance:
System ➢There is a very little maintenance
because there is no contacts between
the parts.

Comfort:

➢The ride is smooth while not

accelerating.
