CHEMICAL REACTION PERFORMANCE SHEET

Experimenter: _Group 1___ Date: Score: _____

School Lab: Chemistry Science Laboratory- RMMC Lab.Title:

Lab. Instructor: CHRISTIAN R. GASAN Lab #: Lab RM: CLAB

General Instructions: Find an exciting experiment which can be done at home. Your
experiment should be related to any form of a chemical reaction. Be creative and
resourceful when finding your experiment. Make sure that your safety should still be
prioritized amidst this pandemic. After finding an interesting experiment, conduct and
document the duration of your activity (Make a short video as proof). Supply the
necessary data as reflected below (Test Chemical and Materials, Procedures, Results
and Discussion, and evidence of the experiment). Submit by attaching a file of your
activity a week after the Midterm Exam. Break A Leg Future Science Teachers! 

I. TEST CHEMICALS AND MATERIALS:

Chemicals QTY Materials QTY

Glycerine 10mL 1L Beaker 2
Tap Water 250mL Tripod 1
Cassava Starch 60mL Bunsen burner 1
Vinegar 20mL Wire gauze 1
Food Colouring (Optional) Glass Stirring Rod 2
Modelling Clay for Moulding
Measuring Spoons (1tbsp) 1
100mL beaker 3
Parchment paper/aluminium
Foil

II. TEST PROCEDURES: (Show your systematic procedure here, use numbers)

1. First is to measure all ingredients as stated in the table above using the
measuring spoons and put them separately into the 100mL beakers

2. Add 10mL of Glycerine, 250mL of tap water, 60mL Cassava Starch, and
20mL Vinegar onto the 1L beaker. Stir to combine ingredients until there is no
lumps in the mixture. The mixture should be in a milky white colour and quite
watery.

3. Place the 1L beaker with the mixture on the heat source (Bunsen burner) and
set it to medium-low heat. Stir continuously for about 15-20 minutes until it
will become more translucent and begins to thicken. You can also add drops
of food colouring according to your preferences. Careful not to overheat the
mixture for it will form lumps and may harden the mixture right away.

4. Spread the heated mixture onto a piece of foil or parchment paper to let it
cool for a day or two. You can also make a mould using modelling clay by
simply sculpting two pieces of clay around the object. When the clay dries,
remove the two pieces and fill each piece with the warm mixture.

5. Let the Bio plastic dry for at least two to three days depending how thick or
thin the object is. After three days, check the plastic. If it appears to be wet,
let it sit for another day and check it again. Continue in checking the plastic
until it is fully dry.

III. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Discuss the events occurred during experiment
and describe the product as result of the experiment. Draw the product, use
multiple colours and label each substances to show the result of the activity.

Evidence of the Output.
