REPORT ON EXPERIENCE OF AN E-

COMMERCE FIRM

INTRODUCTION-
In order to gain insight into the experience of a service provider for amazon sellers the following
interview was taken and accordingly the conclusions are drawn. I interviewed an individual within the
field of Ecommerce who provides services such as listing, sales, account management etc. to the amazon
seller across the country.

RESPONDENTS BACKGROUND-
The respondent is an MBA student named Fasahad Khan. He has been associated with this business for
the past 4 years. He is working as a service provider for amazon sellers.

EXPERIENCE REPORT-
The following questions were asked from Mr Fasahad and accordingly the conclusions were drawn-

1. Is selling on Amazon Worth it?

Whether selling on Amazon is worth it or not depends on a variety of factors, including the product you're
selling, your target market, your competition, product category and your business goals.
It is worth only when you have adequate knowledge about ecommerce and digital marketing tools such as
keywords, ad campaigns which are used and making it difficult to sustain for a person with lesser
knowledge to sustain in the market.

2. How much does it cost to sell on amazon?

Amazon charges the fees according to the product price, shipping charge and product category.
● Price-
For example if a clothing product is priced at 300 then amazon will charge 9% and if it’s priced
above 300 then it will charge 18%.
● Shipping-
The shipping services are provided in two ways-
● Selfship- this depends on the seller to choose the shipping company and amazon charges
the following rates from the seller
For the product priced between 250-500 amazon chargers 20 Rs.
For the product priced between 500-1000 amazon charges 36 Rs.
For the product priced above 1000 amazon charges 65 Rs.
● For shipping services of amazon easyship-
For the product priced between 250-500 amazon chargers 6 Rs.
For the product priced between 500-1000 amazon charges 30 Rs.
For the product priced above 1000 amazon charges 56 Rs.

● Product Category-
Amazon charges different prices as per the categories.
For example grocery 4.5-8%, electronic 20-25%, books 3-12.5%.
This is also further categorized and charged according to price.

3. What are the documents required for an amazon seller

The documents that are needed are PAN card and REGULAR GST.
For books GST is not mandatory, only PAN is required.

4. How much minimum education should a person have to deal in

ecommerce?
Even if the seller has no knowledge about technology and processes yet he can be an amazon seller to
which the service providers assist them for sales. The service provider must have adequate knowledge of
amazon, sales and digital marketing.

5. What technologies and software’s do you use?

Amazon seller service website, seller data- justdial, photoshop, social media, seostack keyword tool for
finding keywords.

6. How often do you measure your sales performance?

The performance of the previous sellers and new seller launch is evaluated monthly and the service
provider also evaluates their performance monthly or twice a month.

7. What criteria do u use to measure the success and profitability of your

business?
The profit depends on seller sales and monthly sales target increase every month.
For example if a seller records sales of 1 lakh per month 5000 is charged by the service provider. This
5000 is given by amazon and seller gives either as per price or as per sale and the percentage is around
1.5 - 2%.

8. What shortcomings do u see in this?

Amazon charges comparatively more than other websites, the account settlement is late (it takes around
7-15 days for payment) resulting in cash flow problems, customer return then seller has to bear the
shipping cost, seller fear returns as he has to bear the shipping cost, Sellers lose interest and lose patience
as ranking, visibility takes time.

9. How is your experience with an ecommerce firm?

Being a service provider for Amazon is an opportunity, as the company is one of the largest e-commerce
platforms in the world and has a wide customer base.
On the positive side, Amazon provides a platform for service providers to reach a large number of
customers and offers various tools and resources to help them grow their business.
However, being a service provider for Amazon can also have its challenges. The company sets high
standards for its service providers, and providers must adhere to strict policies and procedures to maintain
their status.
Overall, the experience of being a service provider for Amazon can be rewarding, but it requires
dedication, hard work, and a commitment to delivering quality service to customers.

CONCLUSION-
The experience of running an ecommerce firm can be both exciting and challenging. On the one hand,
ecommerce offers a vast and growing market for businesses to sell their products and services online.
However, the ecommerce industry is highly competitive, and businesses must work hard to stand out from
their competitors. They must also keep up with changing technologies and consumer trends, which can be
challenging.
For an Amazon Seller it is necessary to get the trust of the seller and fetch them the results so as to
maintain its customer base and also manage the logistics of fulfilling orders, handling customer inquiries,
and managing returns and exchanges. This can be a time-consuming and complex process, and businesses
must have systems in place to ensure that orders are fulfilled accurately and efficiently.
Despite the challenges, running an ecommerce business can be a rewarding experience. With hard work, a
commitment to delivering excellent customer service, and a focus on continuous improvement,
ecommerce businesses can achieve long-term success and growth.
