Question 1

a) Solve the quadratic equation 𝑥 2 − 3(𝑥 + 3) = 0 , give your answer correct to


two significant figures. [3 M]

b) Anil deposits ₹1600 per month in a cumulative account for 3 years at the rate
of 9% p.a. simple interest. Find the amount Anil will get at the time of maturity
. [3 M]

c) The sum of four consecutive numbers in an A.P is 32 and the ratio of the product
of the first and the last terms to the product of two middle terms is 7:15. Find
the numbers. [4 M]

Question 2

a) Three consecutive vertices of a parallelogram ABCD are A (10,-6), B (2,-6) and


C (-4, -2). Find the fourth vertex. [3 M]

a) A dealer buys an article at a discount of 30% from the wholesaler, the marked
price being ₹6000. The dealer sells it to a shopkeeper at a discount of 10% on

ii) G.S.T paid by the dealer [3 M]

a) A line passes through the point P (2,3) and meets the co-ordinate axes at the

the cylinder. [4 M]

Question 6

a) A bag contains 15 balls of which ‘x’ are blue and the remaining are red. If the
number of red balls are increased by 5, the probability of drawing the red ball
doubles. Find

b) An observer 1.5 m tall is 28.5 m away from a chimney. The angle of elevation
at the top of the chimney from his eye is 450 . What is the height of the chimney?

a) Use graph paper for this question. A (0,3), B(3,-2) and O (0,0) are the vertices

i) Plot the triangle on a graph sheet taking 2 cm = 1 unit on both

ii) Plot ‘D’ to the reflection of ‘B’ in the y axis and write its co-
ordinates.
iii) Give the geometrical name of the figure ABOD [3 M]

b) In the adjoining figure, AD is the diameter of the circle with centre ‘O’. If AD
is parallel to BC and ∠ 𝐶𝐵𝐷 = 320 , find
i) ∠ 𝑂𝐵𝐷
ii) ∠ 𝐴𝑂𝐵
iii) ∠ 𝐵𝐸𝐷 [3 M]

c) From a circular cylinder of diameter 10 cm and height 12 cm, a conical cavity


of the same base radius and of the same height is hollowed out. Find the
volume and the whole surface area of the remaining solid [Take 𝜋 = 3.14]

b) A straight line passes through the points P (2,-5) and Q (4, 3). Find
i) The slope of the line PQ
ii) The equation of the line PQ
iii) The value of ‘p’ if PQ passes through the point (p-1, p+4) [3 M]

c) Two persons standing on the same side of a tower in a straight line with it,
measure the angle of elevation of the top of the tower as 250 and 500
respectively. If the height of the tower is 70 m, find the distance between the
two persons. [4 M]
