Northern Mindanao (Region X) is an
administrative region in the Philippines
covering the provinces of Bukidnon,
Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis
Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, as
well as the highly urbanized cities of
Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.

A Filipino singer-songwriter
from Bukidnon.
Former chairman of the music
committee of the National
Commision for Culture and Arts.
Has released 14 albums.

Nicolas “Nic” Aca, Jr.


A visual and performance artist
based in Cagayan de Oro City.
His performance art deals with
issues on the environment,
poverty, and local politics.

A crying Nicolas Aca, outside


of the Saint Augustine church,
approached churchgoers and
begged: “Boto dili baligya (Do
not sell your vote).” His T-shirt
was drenched in pork blood,
his sweat ran through his
shawl-covered head, and tears
streamed down his eyes.

A visual artist based in Cagayan de Oro,
the team leader of the Oro Arts Guild.
His works are often mixed media and
process driven.

Higalaay Festival
Held each year in Cagayan de Oro,
every 28th day of August,
celebrating the feast day of St.
Augustine.
The word "Higalaay" comes from
the Cebuano word "higala"
(friend) which was regarded from
what the city of Cagayan de Oro is
being tagged, the City of Golden
Friendship.

Dalit Festival
Celebrated in Tangub City every
September 29 in honor of St.
Michael the Archangel.
Dalit means to offer - offering of
thanks for the whole year of good
health, harvest, and protection.

Kaamulan Festival
Held annually in Malaybalay City,
Bukidnon from the second half of
February to March 10.
It is the only ethnic festival in the
Philippines. Celebrates the culture
and tradition of the 7 ethnic tribal
groups: Bukidnon, Higaonon,
Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug,
Tigwahanon, and Umayamnon.
Kaamulan comes from the Binukid
word "amul" meaning to gather.

Lanzones Festival
An annual thanksgiving
celebration for Camuigin Island's
bountiful harvest.
Held in the town of Mambajao
during October 20-27 in time for
the season of the tropical fruit
lanzones.
