Chapter 7

Trust

Proverbs 3:5-8 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own
understanding; 6in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. 7Do
not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil. 8It will be health to
your flesh, and strength to your bones.

Job 23:10 But He knows the way that I take. When He has tested me, I shall come forth
as gold.

God is in control. God loves you. Trusting God means to not worry. When you start to
worry, go to God. Give your problems to God by telling Him about your problems and
expect Him to take care of it. Thank Him ahead of time because you know He will
answer your prayers.

Don’t forget God wants to celebrate the good times with you also.

God gave His Son for you. You can trust Him.

He wants the best for you. By reading and utilizing His word, you will become the best
you that God wants you to be.

Jesus rose to the Father in heaven and returned that night and stayed for 40 days and
greeted hundreds of witnesses. On that day we call Easter Sunday Jesus gave His
command to His disciples:

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been
given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19”Go therefore and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age.” Amen
This command was given after Jesus was resurrected.
(corresponds with Luke 24:46-49)
Luke 24:46- 49 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for
the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day. 47and that repentance and
remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48And you are witnesses of these things. 49Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon
you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
Luke 24:51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them
and carried up into heaven.

57
Matthew 5:12a “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven,
Matthew 6:15 “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father
forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or
what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on

Mark 4:39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still.”
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

Mark 6:8 He commanded them (the disciples) to take nothing for the journey except a
staff- (Jesus sent the disciples, two by two, to tell the people to turn to God in all the
neighboring towns)
Mark 8:15 Then He charged them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the
Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” Beware that even leaders can say things that spread
through the people. Don’t let it spread through you. Know God so that you know what
He says about everything. Leaven in bread spreads through the flour so that the bread
will rise up. Don’t let what people say raise you up, let what God says raise you up.
Mark 8:34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to
them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross,
and follow Me”.
Humble is the word that comes to mind, but Jesus means to deny yourself, and take up
your cross in a deeper way than just humble yourself. Everybody has their own cross to
bear in life, it’s not an actual cross. Jesus expects you to pick up your cross and bear it
humbly so that you are like Him. We are not the Lion that comes the second time; we try
to be Jesus the lamb as He was here on earth the first time. We will have already met
Jesus in the air before His second coming. Only God the Son will come back as a Lion.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those
who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14For if we believe
that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in
Jesus. 15For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain
until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16For the
Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and
with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive
and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the
air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

Exodus 14:14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.
This peace is within you. The LORD will not fight for you if you think you are
accomplishing things your way. He will let you fight, by yourself, all alone.

God is in control. Trusting God is very difficult sometimes. You have to keep
remembering that He is in control.
The church age or everything that has happened since the New Testament was completed,
is not in the Bible. (Daniel 9:26) Nobody writes the stories of terrible things that happen

58
to us and then because we trusted in God this or that happened. Well this or that is not
guaranteed.
We are guaranteed that God will not leave us. We are guaranteed that if we believe in
Jesus then whatever we ask for in His name believing within His will, it will come true.
Also we were asked to tell all people about Jesus.

Now imagine today that two people are physically fighting. Neither of them calls out in
Jesus name. One person is a bully and the other is not. God is there, but He does
nothing. He sees through Jesus, so He does not see their sin. Jesus sees their sin, but He
also sees them without sin. After the fight is over, the bully gets away with it and the
other one goes to the hospital.
After coming home from the hospital, that child of God realizes that she probably should
have died because of her wounds, but she didn’t die. She now has better vision that she
didn’t have before. She is left with a brain injury though. She slowly heals from her
wounds, but hates the bully. And is afraid of the bully and the bully’s family that could
do this to her again.

God sees both people as His people. The bully is a bully because of hurt from the bully’s
past. God sees the future of the bully. God always wants His people to return to Him.

The child of God needs to return to God also. Forgiveness is the way this child can show
God she trusts Him. That she knows He is in control and He knows so much more than
she could ever know. If she forgives the bully because God has forgiven her then the
following starts to happen: She has turned from evil (getting beat up) to God, She realizes
that her vision is better, that she did not die from her wounds. Some of the bully’s family
moves away from her. And now she doesn’t think about the bully having power over her
anymore. Because the bully doesn’t have power over her anymore. When you forgive, it
releases you from the hold that person had on you. The bully doesn’t know she forgave
her because she forgave her with God and never told the bully.

What about the bully? Only God knows, but you trust that He is in control.

Life happens. Only God is in control. God sends rain on the just and the unjust. Some
things in life don’t seem fair. God never promised fair. He promised He would never
leave us. He promised that we could pray in His Name and believe and we would
receive. You can trust God, you have to trust God if you want to get through this life the
easiest way there is.

Life happens. What about people who go through their whole life with disabilities. They
can go through life with God or not. Which life do you think is easier?

Deuteronomy 7:9-12 Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful
God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him
and keep His commandments; 10and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to
destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his
face. 11Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which

59
I command you today, to observe them. 12Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to
these judgments, and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the
covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers.

2 Samuel 22:2-4 And he said (David): The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my
deliverer; 3the God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my
salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior, You save me from violence. 4I will
call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

Psalm 2:12b Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who
believes.”

The more you put your trust in God, the more you will believe.

Jesus’ commands that pertain to trust follow:

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not
come to destroy but to fulfill. “
Matthew 6:15 “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father
forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or
what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than
food and the body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into
barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about
its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 8:22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Matthew 10:9, 10 “Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, 10nor
bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his
food.”
Matthew 10:19, 20 “But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you
should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20for it is
not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.”
Matthew 10:31 “Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many…
Matthew 14:16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them
something to eat.”
Matthew 16:4 “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall
be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.
Matthew 26:12, 13 “For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial.
13”Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this
woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”

Mark 4:39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still.”
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Mark 6:8 He commanded them (the disciples) to take nothing for the journey except a
staff- (Jesus sent His disciples and 70 others, two by two, to tell the people to turn to God
in all the neighboring towns-Luke 1)
Mark 8; 15 Then He charged them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the
Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”
Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who
believes.”
Mark 10:21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack;
Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in
heaven; and come take up the cross, and follow Me.”
Mark 10:28-30a Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed
You.” 29So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has
left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for My
sake and the gospel’s, 30who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time-
Mark 11:22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.”
Mark 13:11 “But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or
premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it
it’s not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.”

Luke 5:27, 28 After these things He went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting
at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” 28So he left all, rose up, and followed
Him.
Luke 10:2-11 & 16 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers
are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3Go
your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4Carry neither money bag,
knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. 5But whatever house you enter,
first say, ‘Peace to this house.” 6And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it;
if not, it will return to you. 7And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such
things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to
house. 8Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat such things as are set before
you,9and heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to
you.’ 10But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets
and say, 11’’The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you.
Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.’ …16”He who hears
you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who
sent Me.”
Luke 12:2 “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will
not be known.”
Luke 12:15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life
does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”
Luke 16:13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love
the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God
and mammon.”

61
Luke 17:19 And He said to him (a foreigner), “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made
you well.”
Luke 21: 12c- 15 You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. 13But
it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14Therefore settle it in your hearts
not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15for I will give you a mouth and
wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.”
Luke 21:19 “By your patience possess your souls.”

John 3:30-33 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31He who comes from above is
above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from
heaven is above all. 32And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one
receives His testimony. 33He who has received His testimony has certified that God is
true. This is John the Baptist speaking of Jesus.
John 6:20 But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”
John 6:28, 29 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do that we may work the works of
God?” 29Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in
Him whom He sent.”
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who
follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
John 12:44, 45 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in
Me but in Him who sent Me. 45And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.”
John 13:20 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me;
and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”
John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”
John 14:16, 17 “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He
may abide with you forever- 17the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because
it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will
be in you.”
John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He
will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
John 16:23, 24 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.” 24Until now you have asked
nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the
world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John 20:19b Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
John 20:27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands;
and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but
believing.”
John 20:29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed.
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Revelation 2:10, 11 “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.
Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and
you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown

62
of life. 11He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who
overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”
