Question 1.4: The management of Montreal airports tells you that complaints from travelers are
the result of missed flights. Management would like 99% of travelers not to miss their flight.
- Does the current configuration meet this objective? If not, what does not allow your opinion on
achieving this goal?
Answer:
The current system configuration does not meet the objective of 99 percent boarding
allocation. It is because of the system check in utilization take high time and the current capacity
for check in processes is too low to manage the scheduled arrivals. If one wants to achieve the
required objectives the one must need to increase the capacity at check in station as well as at final
checker station or need to automate at final checking process station. Both alternatives are of the
potential to be implemented.
Question 1.5: What would be the impact on the percentage of people who miss their flight if the
priority is given to case passengers in the check-in process? Properly justify your answer with
supporting calculations (scenario).
Answer:
The priority does not will improve the system as the current utilization of resources at the check
in stations are too high as follows:

The current utilization of resources at check in is about 92 percent which is too high to
improve the system by prioritizing the failures. Instead, one need to increase the capacity or need
to implement the capacity planning strategies.
