Achievements/Tasks
Conducts FBE powder/coating laboratory tests such as moisture content analysis, bend test, cure test using Differential Scanning
Calorimeter (DSC), cathodic disbondment test, cross-section porosity analysis, and hot water soak test.
Writes and develops quality control laboratory specifications following the standard operating procedures mandated in 09-SAMSS-
091, SAMSS-089, and CAN/CSA Z245.20.
Serves as a quality control coatings inspector for shop-applied FBE coatings on internal surface of fittings, shop-applied liquid
coatings on internal girth-weld of spools, and field-applied FBE coatings on internal and external girth-weld of pipelines.
Monitors and confirms that the coating materials are stored and handled in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
Receives, and inspects that the incoming fittings and spools/pipes are as specified in the purchase order and are suitable for
coating application.
Conducts tests prior, during, and after cleaning/coating activities which include performing blotter test, monitoring ambient
conditions, measuring and assessing the surface profile and the degree of cleanliness of blast-cleaned steels, ensuring that the
specified pre-heat and post-cure heat temperatures are observed.
Performs quality control tests on applied coatings namely visual inspection, DFT measurement, adhesion test, cure test, and
holiday/pinhole detection test.
Tracks all the tools, gauges, and equipment involved in coating activities to be periodically and properly calibrated with valid
documentations.
Operates a robotic crawler inspection machine for the field-applied FBE coatings on the internal girth-weld of pipelines and ensures
that the video recordings/documentations are conducted and reported accurately.
