3 in 5 Would End A Date Over Annoying Eating Habits: Questions
Dating is hard enough already without having to think about how you're
eating. But according to one survey, most Americans would end a date — or
even a relationship — if they didn't like the other person's eating habits.
The survey was done by OnePoll for food company Farm Rich, and included
2,000 Americans.
It found that three in five people would end a date early or break up with
someone if they had an eating habit they found annoying. This was more
true for men, 42% of whom said they would, compared to 25% of
women. However, men were also more likely to say they had the same
annoying habits themselves.
Over half said they would end a first date early if someone was slurping
their food, 49% said they would if someone dropped food on the floor and
then ate it, and 42% said they would if someone was chewing with their
mouth open.
The most annoying eating habits were talking with your mouth full, chewing
loudly and open-mouth chewing.
For Generation Z, people born between 1997 and 2012, 73% said they
would ignore an eating habit if it annoyed them. But 61% of millennials —
people born between 1981 and 1996 — said they'd politely ask the person
to stop. However, 48% of millennials said they had walked out on a date or
relationship because of eating habits before.
It's not just eating habits that could end a date, though. A different survey
from OnePoll found that one in eight people would leave a date if they
didn't like what the other person had chosen from the menu.
