Physical fitness is important for people of all ages.

Physical fitness is especially important for young


adolescents ages twelve to twenty-one. One way for young adolescents to obtain a vigorous activity is
through school. Having physical education in schools effects young adolescents mentally, physically, and
emotionally.

Having physical education in schools effects young adolescents mentally. It is important for
students to participate in a physical education class because it builds a foundation for participation in
activities later in life. If the physical education teacher, teaches age appropriate development skills, the
child is able to perform at his best. A lot of these skills lend themselves to a child being able to perform
at his best in the classroom. Physical education programs can involve students in activities that challenge
the mind of the students. Activities such as archery and golf involve math skills as well as concentration
skills.

“Physical education plays a critical role in educating the whole student. Research supports the
importance of movement in educating both mind and body. Physical education contributes directly to
development of physical competence and fitness. It also helps students to make informed choices and
understand the value of leading a physically active lifestyle. The benefits of physical education can affect
both academic learning and physical activity patterns of students. The healthy, physically active student
is more likely to be academically motivated, alert, and successful.
Inside in my portfolio are the work outs I've done at home. Engaging in regularly activities improves my
physical health, cognitive performance, and psychological well-being. Physical benefits include, but are
not limited to, reduced risk for diseases, and improvements in physical functioning, fitness, and overall
quality of life. Literature supports a link between exercise and cognitive benefits related to academic
performance, brain function, and aging.

Psychological benefits incurred from physical activity pertain to improvements in mood and self-esteem,
and potential reductions in stress, anxiety, and depression. Strong scientific evidence indicates that
adopting a physical activity regimen may positively impact health. However, individuals react differently
to exercise and may face unique challenges and barriers when beginning and maintaining an exercise
program. One may engage in behavioral modification strategies to enhance physical activity. Useful
strategies include: identifying personally perceived barriers to physical activity, increasing self-efficacy,
effectively setting goals, planning for setbacks, and self-monitoring progress.

Physical education plays a vital role to us. It helps both our minds and bodies to contributes directly in
developing physical competence and fitness. It also helps us to informed choices and understand the
value of leading a physically active lifestyle. The benefits of physical education can affect both academic
learning and physical activity patterns of students. The healthy, physically active student is more likely
to be academically motivated, alert, and successful.
