WOODED TRAIL

You start out again picking up the signs of a faint trail.

The crunching of leaves beneath your feet and a crisp breeze against your skin make you feel
as though you have stepped into another world. The terrain becomes a bit unstable in places,
creating caution, slowing your progress.- (ROLL DEX FOR SLIP)

The thin path meanders through the forest, eventually merging into a well-worn track lined
with trees that are beginning to display brilliant autumn cloaks painted in shades of orange,
red, and gold. The path widens as it continues past a babbling brook, through small glades
and over gently rolling hills.

As you make your way, you catch glimpses through the gaps in the trees at what lays below.
It appears to be roof tops.

A short while later a faint sound floats through the air. Was that laughter? Music?

As you draw closer, you are able to make out more details.
There are buildings of weathered stone, some timbered with whitewash and thatched roofs
peppered about a small valley, an idyllic setting to see.

You emerge from the forest, and a village comes into full view, sitting on the far side of a
swift moving creek. A small building stands as sentry at the edge of a sturdy wooden bridge
that leads into the village.

The smell of woodsmoke and roasting meats fills the air, and a band of minstrels plays lively
tune that you can clearly hear now. 2pm

VILLAGE of FALLREST
654 villagers Acres 300 (center 10 acres)
First day is prep Second day is festival Third day Bone fire

All along the narrow rough cobblestone streets you can see people move with excitement &
purpose as they prepare the town for the festival. Hanging glow lanterns, colorful banners,
setting up competition tables and booths for selling all types of goods.

Fallrest, sprung up by Farsview Tributary (Farsview was originally Falls View, as further down
you can see the beginnings of the mountain falls) a river navigable by small craft, that runs
into Templecrook. It is comprised predominantly of humans.

FIRE FESTIVAL
The village is getting ready for the annual festival; “putting the fire down” getting ready
for the winter.

An activity everyone participates in is the finding and creating a LUSINA - Fire Bone.
Fire Bones are logs that are cut, carved and decorated with intent then added to the
gathering fire. After the fire dies down the glowing coals are gathered, taken home to the
hearth. The strength of the village helps everyone to survive the coming winter.

They know of the Falls, the area has more Falls than anywhere.

The festival is a superb affair, with villagers and visitors alike coming together to celebrate
the season of harvest and enjoy a variety of contests and competitions.

Is on some peoples bucket list.

FIRST NIGHT
Adrastor, the Mage, stands at the heart of the village, looking out into the crowd he gathers
everyone into a deep silence. With a flourish of hand gestures (always the showman) a bright
yellow flash strikes the pit, igniting the bonfire, sending sparks and embers dancing into the
night sky. The villagers gather around the fire, their faces glowing with excitement as they
dance and sing, their voices rising in joyous celebration.

As you join the revelry, you feel a sense of belonging and camaraderie with the villagers. The
warmth of the fire and the merriment of the festival fill you with a sense of wonder and
enchantment, and you realize that you have truly stepped into a magical world.

----------------------------
SECOND DAY
Early in the morning, you awake to the cacophony of sounds,
IF THEY GET UP AND WATCH
A procession led by a Shaman (Kyras of Belenus, god of fire), winds past the lodge each
person carrying a log through the streets. The logs are different sizes, some so large they can
hardly be carried. The parade snakes around the bonfire pit 3 times before coming to a halt.
The participants place their logs and a satchel on the ground, standing behind it and wait for
a blessing to be given. Once given the crowd disperses taking their logs with them.
– they head in different directions. Booths open and contests begin-

More villagers dressed in their finest attire, start to fill the square to enjoy the day’s
offerings, music and dancing, games of skill and chance, contests for all and most importantly
the crafting of your LUSINA - Fire Bone, for the great burning.

As the sun begins to set, everyone gathers in the GREEN finding places around long tables, lit
by torches and candles, eating, drinking enjoying a fine feast.

Nones (9pm) is struck out on the bell a hush falls over the glen.

-PICTURE OF FLOATING LIGHTS AND THE FIRE SHOW-

Logs are gathered into groups around a center bonfire pit. Kyras stands up and gives a prayer
to Belenus then cast fire onto the logs.
All watch the fires as they continue to share stories, and sing songs late into the night.
When the logs have turned to embers they are gathered into pots and vessels to take back
home for the coming year.
