Name of Programme: Masters in Disaster Management

Vision
To develop the Department of Geography as an advanced centre for spatial sciences and continue our heritage to
be the centre of population geography.
Mission
To start the courses in emerging areas of spatial sciences, particularly in Geoinformatics and Disaster
Management.
Program Outcomes (PO)
Students will develop the ability to:
 Comprehend philosophy, key concepts and methodologies in geography.
 Analyze mechanisms and processes associated with physical and human geography.
 Assess and critique local, regional and global scenarios, practices and policies.
 Use the tools of cartography, RS, GIS, GNSS, and Surveying for mapping and analysis.
 Demonstrate spatial analysis and research skills in the form of tangible products.
 Apply technical skills and field-knowledge to problem solving.
 Create outputs to meet local, regional, and global goals of development.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)
 Student will be able to apply the knowledge of core concepts of Geography in semester exams, in NET, SET,
national level exams as well as in the research level projects work which is suitable to communicate/present
further in workshops and conferences.
 Through assignments and research based project work students are able to inculcate analytical skills and
critical thinking.
 In day - to - day access to study material, through presentations, students are capable enough to make use of
PowerPoint presentations, Web-based academic links and can also get hands on experience of using
proprietary software like ArcGIS, Erdas Imagine and ENVI under experiential learning.
 Through the research culture of the department and skills acquired therein, students are capable of sustaining
subsequent academic progression inside the country and overseas as well.
