Questions and Answers: 1. Why did you choose Social Work as your profession? Social Work was not her first choice, she wanted to be at the medical field but she failed two major subjects. Then, her mom convinced her to take up Social Work because Social Work is about helping and travelling a lot that made her interested to study or choose Social Work. 2. Do you enjoy your Job? Why? Why Not? She does enjoy her job, because she encountered challenges in handling cases especially if she can help the clients and it’s very rewarding and fulfilling. 3. How would you describe your Job? She would describe her job as challenging because you do case studies and testifies in courts 4. What do Social Welfare Officers do? According to her, Social Welfare Officers mediate, counsel, helps client for them to realize of what their capabilities, their strengths and how they will help their self. Social Work is a profession that needs social functioning of a person. Social Welfare Officers help their clients to decide because the Social Welfare Officer is not the one deciding but the client. 5. What kinds of clients do you find most difficult to work with and why? Custody Cases, it’s sad because they fight about the custody of their child. Because the married/partner got separated and has issues about their past relationship. There is a competition happening because they are fighting about who is going to have the custody of the child 6. What is the most important aspect about managing client’s feelings? Need to apply the principles of social work which is acceptance, social workers need to accept who they are. Where they came from, their upbringing. Because, all of us are unique. 7. How do you balance your work and your personal life? According to her if work, then work. When at office, then the office is where she does her work and collects all the paper work and do the paperwork. If at home, she does things that she loves to do. She enjoys and she never thinks/worry about work. Have this time to meditate and have time to yourself. 8. What are your most significant weaknesses in the role of a social worker Being Emotional, but of course she needs to control her emotions. 9. What are you biggest strengths in the role of a social worker? Being patient and especially dedicated. Loving her work even though in hard and challenging.
