Kawayan Torogan Folk Architecture Kawayan Torogan in Marantao, Lanao del
Sur. Torogan is a traditional house of the
Maranaos. Made of hard woods with post
made up of whole tree-trunks and are
known for intricately carved panolong
(beam-ends) with okir designs, the
torogan was once a symbol of high social
status.
Coral houses Folk Architecture A Coral house uses heavy materials for
protection against strong winds and
typhoons that pass by.
Banaue Rice Carving The Banaue Rice Terraces ( Filipino:
Terraces Hagdan-hagdang Palayan ng Banawe)
are terraces that were carved into the
mountains of Banaue, Ifugao, in the
Philippines, by the ancestors of the
indigenous people. The terraces are
occasionally called the " Eighth Wonder
of the World ".
Modernized falua Maritime Transport Modern motorized falua in Basco, Batanes
Falua, also spelled faluwa, is a traditional
open-deck boat of the Ivatan people from
the islands of Sabtang and Batan in the
Philippines. It is about 8 to 12 m (26 to 39
ft) long and has one mast.
Rayon Malong Weaving The malong is a traditional “tube skirt”
made of hand-woven or machine-made
multi-colored cotton cloth, bearing a
variety of geometric or “okir” designs.
Vakul To protect the Ivatans from the scorching
sun and rain, they have their remarkable
hand woven headdress called vakul. The
vakul is made out of abaca and voyavoy
plant which is locally grown in Batanes.
Standing bulul Carving Bulul, also known as bul-ul or tinagtaggu,
is a carved wooden figure used to guard

the rice crop by the Ifugao (and their sub-
tribe Kalanguya) peoples of northern
Luzon. The sculptures are highly stylized
representations of ancestors and are
thought to gain power and wealth from the
presence of the ancestral spirit.
The Mother’s Pottery  The Mother’s Revenge is a clay sculpture
Revenge (terracotta sculpture) created by Jose Rizal
in Dapitan, Zamboanga. 1894. Rizal was
inspired to create the sculpture by an
incident that occurred while he was in
Dapitan, where he was deported and set
up a school.
Ilongot hair ornament Ornament, textile, or fiber art It is anything decorative that one would
wear on one's head.
Bas relief Carving is a sculptural technique where the artist
carves his subject out of a flat, solid
background.
