CHILD'S STUDY REPORT
During the Supported Teaching in Schools observation at FR. Kricschie R/C JHS, I was tasked to study
four learners (two boys and two girls) and also write a report on the study. In the course of the task, I
chose four learners called Amponsah Gordon, Dekyi Samuel, Sarfowaah Erica and Aminatu Ibrahim.
With the help of my mentor in the person of Mr Bediako-Nsiah Richmond, I was able to get the necessary
information that aid me to construct my child study report. In other to carry out this activity successful I
developed a checklist with the names of the students and their needs included in the list. The following is
a checklist of a some student's sampled for a child study and a report after the study. Attached to it is
some recommendations as to how the special needs of these students can be handled by teacher to ensure
equity and inclusitivity in the classroom and outside classroom.

The four students I was able to identify are in the person of Amponsah Gordon, Sarfowaah Erica, Dekyi
Samuel and Aminatu Ibrahim . This students were suffering from dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and
dyspraxia. This students exhibited different ways of taking part in the teaching and learning activities,
their needs someway somehow prevented them from getting what the teacher is teaching.

AMPONSAH GORDON

Amponsah Gordon is ten years old and attend school at FR. Krischie R/C JHS. He in JHS 2. He is fair in
complexion. He lives in Tafo with his parents and his little brother. His father is called Mr. Amponsah
Micheal and his mother is called Mrs. Amponsah Sophia. Both parents are traders. He is very punctual at
school and regular in class. He mostly pays attention during class lessons and like asking questions to
clarify his doubts. He socializes with anyone in the class and he is an extrovert. Gordon is very good at
reading subjects such as English Language, Religious and Moral Education, and many more. It normally
takes Gordon a long period of time to understand mathematics concepts as compared to his classmates.
Gordon in this case is an auditory learner. He also learn by listening to what his teacher says. He was
suffering from dyslexia and dyscalculia. Again during their physical education lesson I also identified
that he was unable to catch ball thrown towards him, he was unable to judge when the ball will get to him
and always move after the ball has passed him. I suggested that he should always be allowed to practice
that activity constantly without being judged for his inabilities.

SARFOWAAH ERICA

Erica is a fifteen year old girl who lives in Tafo with her family. Her parents are Takyi Emmanuel and
Martha Sarpong. Her father is a teacher and the mother is a trader. Erica often arrives late to school
because her house is very far from the school. She often sleeps in class during class lessons. She likes
playing with her friends. She cannot pay attention in class for a long time. She loves singing rhymes and
reciting poems. She has the unique ability of memorizing every rhyme and poem her teacher has taught
the class. She can tell stories and give good explanations by looking at picture charts. She also very good
at Creative Arts. Unfortunately for her, she finds it very difficult in performing well in mathematics. Erica
is a visual learner and also an auditory learner. She loves listening to rhymes and poems taught by her
teacher. She is able to remember all the rhymes and poems her teacher has taught in the class. I observed
that she was suffering from dysgraphia. I observed this after going through her exercise book. She made
simple spelling mistakes and was unable to copy the exact words written on the chalkboard into her
notebook.

DEKYI SAMUEL

Dekyi Samuel is seventeen years old. He lives in Tafo with his parents and his siblings. His father is
called Mr. Dekyi Francis and his mother is called Mrs. Esther Pokua. Both parents are traders. He is very
punctual at school and regular in class. He mostly pays attention during class lessons and like asking
questions. He was suffering from dysgraphia. A mathematics test was given to them after their lesson
presentation. He was unable to do simple addition, multiplication and subtraction exercise, this got my
attention to go through his assignment book. I realized that it was his major problem and with the rate the
teacher teaches there was no way he can catch up with the rest of the students, I suggested to the teacher
to give him extra hour to do the basic calculation.
AMINATU IBRAHIM

Amina is sixteen year old girl who lives in Tafo with her family. Her parents are Alhaji Musah and
Monirah Mohammed. Her father is a Carpenter and the mother is a trader. Amina often arrives late to
school. She often sleeps in class during class lessons. She likes playing with her friends. I observed she
was suffering from dyspraxia. During their physical education, I observed that she isolate herself from the
rest of the students, upon trying to get her involved I realized that she couldn't play with the students
due to her inability to coordinate with what other students were doing. I suggested to the teacher to give
her more of such activities to help her overcome that Inability also help build her confidence.
