OVERVIEW

The first module was a little bit challenging. However, with constant practice and
patience in every lesson, you will have a lot of knowledge about music. You are always
expected to do good in every activity so that you will get a high score in the pre-test,
assessment and post-test. In order to achieve these, you have to read and study the lesson
properly and enthusiastically.

At the end of the module, learners are expected to:

1. identify simple music forms and its repeat marks.

2. sing songs in different music forms.

3. Appreciate the songs in different music forms.

 Enthusiasm and complete cooperation are needed in this module and
lessons.
 Do not put any markings on this Module as there are still other
learners who will be using it. Use a separate notebook to be labeled
as “MY MAPEH MODULE NOTEBOOK” to keep your answers in each
activity. Be sure to LABEL your work according to the Module,
lessons and the date you work on it.
 Each Module has an objective and instructions. Read them and
FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY.
 Before going over the activities, answer the PRE-TEST first then find
out how well you did by checking your answers. Make sure to answer
it first before going over the answer key. DO NOT CHEAT!
 Review your lessons constantly and do not forget to read carefully

This lesson discusses some songs from the locality and other popular songs
used in your early years in elementary. You will analyze the song using the forms that you
have learned previously in Lesson 1.

What’s In

In the previous lesson, the different music forms were discussed. These
forms will be used in this lesson. Let us review the different forms and their
definitions below:

A. Unitary Form (A)

- it contains only one section which remains the same all throughout
the whole song or composition.

- in the song below, it has the same notes and same pitch all
throughout the entire song.

B. Binary Form (AB)

-made up of two musical parts or has two different melodic ideas.

C. Ternary Form (ABC or ABA)

-made up of three parts or three different melodic idea. Sometimes,


the third part is a repetition of the 1st part, thus represented by the
letters A,B and A. (ABA)

D. Rondo Form (ABACA)

-made up of five or more musical parts with some repetions.

- it is represented by letters ABACA. The 1 st , 3rd and 5th parts are


repeated or has the same melody.

What is It

The songs above are commonly heard and sung. They have been played
and sung since you are in Grade 1. On the other hand, Rehiyon Dyes is used and sung as
the anthem for Region X – Northern Mindanao. Thus, it is expected to be memorized by
every learners in Region X. Let us analyze the songs below:

A. Leron, Leron Sinta

 The song is in Binary Form. Thus, it has the letters A and B in the music sheet having
two sections.

B. Happy Birthday

 This song is commonly heard during birthday parties. It is in Unitary Form because it
has only one section. The notes are just repeated as well as the pitch and melody.

C. Lupang HInirang

 This is the anthem of our country. Thus, before we start with our daily classes at
school, we sing it during flag ceremonies. It is in Ternary Form having sections ABC.
Three sections having the same rhythm but different lyrics and pitch.

D. Rehiyon Dyes

 This song is sung during regional activities, seminars and trainings; the anthem of
our region. Thus, considering it as one of our local songs. It is in Ternary Form with
sections A, B and C.
