DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

I. IDENTIFICATION

1.It is made up of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and your liver, pancreas and gallbladder,
responsible for breaking down or digesting the food into nutrients such as
carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
2. It is where the mechanical breakdown of food begins and where the food is chewed
and mixed with saliva.
3. The act of eating and drinking.
4. Also called the alimentary canal or gastrointestinal (GI) tract, consists of a long
continuous tube that extends from the mouth to the anus.
5. It is the sharpest teeth, used for ripping and tearing food apart.
6.It is a muscular organ in the mouth, mostly made of muscles. Plays a vital role when
chewing food. It helps push the food down into the pharynx during the act of
swallowing.
7. It is a 2-inch long canal that contains the pelvic floor muscles as well as the two anal
sphincters.
8. It occurs when substances that make up the bile (usually cholesterol or a waste
product called bilirubin) become too concentrated and form a hard stone.
9. A pouch that serves as the beginning of the large intestine.
10. It is also called piles, are swollen veins in your anus and lower rectum, similar to
varicose veins.
