Description of activity Units covered

UNIT 1
2.4 Analyse the interaction between the values and culture of
an adult social care organization and own leadership
behaviours.

The values of an organization: integrity, accountability, honesty,

trust, diversity, respect, collaboration, transparency, compassion
and many more are the heart of any organization. They provide the
purpose and direction in which they interact with their employees,
clients and other stakeholders.

The culture of an organization is the collection of this values put in

practice, they are their mission, the guide that motivates their team
to achieve their goals.

Own personal leadership behaviours will directly influence

employee’s comportment. A leader that values their team transfers
a positive culture, working together towards the same objective.
The leader will help the staff feel valued and respected, by doing
this, is important to be open and transparent with them, keeping
your team informed of any changes and encouraging them to have
open discussions and come forward with new ideas.

The leader also manages conflicts and difficulties between his
team, they could be related to the way the team approach their
work or the way they understand or interpret the values and culture
of the organization. Or be a personal conflict between the members
of his team. This will lead to poor performance affecting the service
offered to clients.

To resolve conflicts the leader, need to have an understanding of

what is creating this conflict.
Feedback is an important tool that leaders must help resolve
conflicts and to give the opportunity to his team to express
themselves.

This two-way communication enables the employee to reflect on

their own performance, to understand what they are doing well or
what need to be changed.

As a leader is important to learn how to deliver constructive

feedback.
Positive and negative feedback may be both helpful if used
correctly and at the appropriate moment.

Supervisions are a good opportunity for your team to develop their

knowledge and skills and a good opportunity to promote the values
of the organizations and to improve the quality and safety in the
care setting.

As a leader is crucial to find your own style.
