 Coaching of sport food/healthy
you also have hidden roles and
 Teaching good sportsmanship
responsibilities as a teacher towards the children. One of the roles a teacher
has will be as a nurse to help the child medically if he/she needs assistance.
You can also make the children aware of HIV and phone the parents if they are
ill. Being a nurse will be integrated with a Social worker to see that they have
enough food and that they are not neglected. And also to make sure that they
are being raised in a loving home. As a Social worker being part of a hidden
role of a teacher you have to make sure that children have clean clothes and
help them to pay attention to hygiene. It is also important to keep an eye on
the children to make sure that they have enough food.
Being a mother figure to a child is very important to support the child if
he/she is emotionally unstable at school or if he/she feels the need to talk to
someone who they can trust. Making your classroom feel like a 2nd home is
very important because that is where the child will spend halve of his day and
should feel safe and comfortable. You as teacher can also be a personal
assistant regarding sending out newsletters, making sure the children have
everything they need and to organise fund raisers etc. It is your job to keep the
child and parents happy and satisfied with the way you are teaching and with
everything that is going on at school. It is important to let the parents know
what’s going on with their child and all the activities and responsibilities they
need to be having and doing. The last thing I think a hidden responsibility is of
a teacher is the role she plays in extra-curricular activities. Usually the teacher
is in charge of coaching certain sports and assisting the learners with it. It is
also the teachers responsibility to teach the child good sportsmanship and
how to handle certain situations. Example if you lost a game in soccer, don’t
cry about it or be angry, teach them how to handle it and that you learn from
it, next time you will know where you can better from your mistak es.
