Northern Lights in Stirling

An amateur photographer has captured the northern lights outside Stirling castle.
On February 27th amateur photographer Libby Mills was hunting for an area with low light
pollution to capture an image of the northern lights.
She drove around inside and outside of Stirling looking for somewhere to stop her car to get
the image when she hastily landed on the castle.
Low light pollution allowed for Libby to capture the image of the lights outside Stirling
castle.
Miss Mills said: “it was incredible to see the northern lights through my camera, a once in a
lifetime opportunity".
The location Libby ended up at was not her original choice as she wanted to stop on the
Dumbarton Road as it was dark, but she found it to be too dangerous to stop that late at
night.
The image taken was captured on Libby’s Nikon D80 with an 18-135mm lens attached and
the lights shot was beautifully captured hanging above Stirling in a green aura.
This experience is not common in such a central part of Stirling and is an impressively
captured image.
Miss Mills said: “if I were to try and see [the northern lights] again, I would go somewhere
up north in the countryside”.
