Engagement Are You A Tourist Or A Traveler

1) Blooket Game: Students will compete in a blooket game based on
famous places to visit around the world.

Engagement Exit Slip: Students will turn in there exit slip as they are leaving class.
Assessment
1) Which city and country did you pick for your dream trip project?
2) Why did you pick this country?
3) What do you know about it and what do you want to know?

Exploration Exploring The Destination

- Students will explore the city and country they are visiting by completing
research in a small-group. Students will have a questionnaire to guide their
research. Students will need to find: a map showing where in the world
they are going, the weather and when the best time to go, travel tips and
cultural rules, packing list, languages, currency, food, traditions, and
pictures.

- Students will gather all of this information before beginning to construct

their presentation.

Exploration - To assess the exploration phase students will complete the questions that they
Assessment use to guide their research. Students are working in pairs of two, and each is
required to turn in their evidence.
- Students will also be assessed based on their collaboration & partcipation with
their partner.

Explanation To explain the lesson I will cover all major points of the presentation and
provide students with an dream trip presentation example. I will emphasise
the importance of understanding cultural traits and how they define certain
regions. Students will be researching areas they want to visit and they
must become familiar with the countries cultural traits (religions,
langauges, etc.).

Explanation Whole-Group Discussion: Students will participate in a whole-group discussion

Assessment on the importance of understanding different cultures around the world.
Example Question: What language is spoken in your dream destination? If it is a
different language how will you communicate with others?

Elaboration Students will be creating a powerpoint for their dream travel destination. I
will provide students with an example from my classes in the past. I am
sticking with the powerpoint because that is what I have always done in
the past and it is what my 7th graders are most comfortable with right now.
- Students are completing their project in small-groups and students will
