Pre-assessment of current knowledge: Have students tell the classroom a story about anything they want. They will be given two minutes to tell us a story about
something that interests them.

I will have a checklist of how their puppets mimic real-life
animals. On the checklist, I will compare and contrast the
features of their animal and the real animal. For example, if
a student makes a zebra puppet, then I will make notes if
the student did or did not use black and white and if they
did not, I will make note of the colors they used instead.

your evidence into a class or group view?)
I will use their storytelling to answer questions of why they
chose to use the materials they chose, and what they think
that the animal does. I will also observe how they use their
animal puppets in their choice of dramatic play.

Procedural steps:
- Students will be given a choice of a white or brown
paper bag
- Students are able to use paint, marker, dot markers,
crayons, pencils, etc to color their bag
- Teacher will instruct students to create an animal
puppet
- Allow time for those who used paint’s puppet to dry
- Students will be able to come in front of the
classroom (stage) in order to tell us a story about
their animal
- After all students have told their stories, students will
be able to use the animal puppets in their dramatic
play as they see fit
