CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND IT`S BACKGROUND

Introduction

The awareness of the students who are aware in RA 9003 or the

separating of wastes into biodegradable and non-biodegradable. This

program institutes measures to promote a more acceptable system which

corresponds to the vision of sustainable development. In the Philippines the

abiding policy for solid waste management (SWM) is the Republic Act 9003 or

the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. The mandate of the

policy stipulated in the National Solid Waste Management Strategy 2012-2016

report cited the following to be implemented at the local government units

(LGUs): The implementation however of this institution to respective students

in senior high school students in Raniag High School was not measured.

It is with this purpose that this study will be conducted, to identify

qualitatively and descriptive the implementation of RA 9003 and the memo to

selected public secondary schools in Raniag High School. The Senior high

students in Raniag High school levels of awareness in RA 9003. The

objectives of the study were to determine the level of awareness; attitude;

practices among selected senior high school students. The study similarly,

aimed to identify gaps and best practice of segregating wastes in re-use,
