Brief Introduction:

Traditionally, we read a text from left to right and top to bottom with

information organized sequentially. Nowadays, there are multiple pathways for

the students to read and analyze text this is through non-linear texts. These allow

readers most especially, visual learners, to access information in a more

understandable and interactive way.

Learning Competencies (Essential Competencies)

Transcode information from linear to non- linear texts and vice versa

Objectives
At the end of this module the students will be able to:

a. explain illustrations from linear to non-linear texts and vice

versa
b. present information using tables, graphs, and/or maps
Let’s Recall (Review)

The following images you can see are what we call “wordles”. Study the images and tell us
what they mean. Number 1 is already given for you as example.

be read from beginning to sequential manner in order to

Running for Student Supreme Government President

Every year the students of Aim Great High School vote for a president. It is a
very exciting time for the students.
Each year the students nominate six classmates to run in this election. This
year, Liezel, Kith, Weng, Tony, Grace and John were chosen. Each student started
to campaign. They hung up signs around their school, spoke to the students on their
classrooms and handed out flyers in the hallway. Each student tries to address the
issues the students of Aim Great High School were interested in hearing about. They
discussed the price of spaghetti in the canteen, the length of club activities, and the
need for more classroom materials during art activities.
The entire school got to watch the meeting de avance in the school ground.
Each candidate got a chance to answer questions from their classmates. Grace
responded nicely to all the questions. Tony got nervous up on the stage and had
trouble answering the questions. Liezel spoke nicely but avoided the questions
being asked. Kith answered all the questions but forgot to tell his platform. Weng
went straight to the point and John did not attend the meeting.
Election day was finally here! Each student went into a voting booth and fill
out their ballot. They placed their ballot into the ballot box when they were done.
The principal Mrs. Leslie Ila announced the winner over the loudspeaker at the end
of the school day. All the students sat properly on their seat as they waited to hear
the announcement.
Mrs. Ila announced, “Congratulations to the new SSG President! It was a
close race, not a landslide, but the winner is, Grace!”
All the students cheered for Grace from their seats in their classrooms. Grace
smiled from her seat in her class. She could not wait to represent her classmates as
Supreme Student Government President. It is going to be a great school year.
