Research Groups in FTKMA UMP
Advanced Fluid Focus Group (AFFG)

Advanced Fluids Focus Group (AFFG) is dedicated to

produce advanced fluids in mechanical engineering with
high-level professionalism in global context. The focus
group is committed to the advancement of advanced fluids
research and development in innovative engineering and
technology to promote national growth. The group strives
to conduct research and development in two research
clusters namely gas and liquids.
Automotive Engineering Research Group (AERG)

Main research focus in AERG are:

1.Battery (EV/Hybrid) and Nanotechnology
2.Additive manufacturing in automotive
3.Advanced Material for automotive
4.Powertrain analysis
5.Cooling, tribology and lubrication
Manufacturing Technology Group (MTG)
Research in the following areas:
- Joining and welding
- Machining
- Sheet metal forming
- Casting
- Non-traditional Processing
- Powder Metallurgy
Energy Sustainable Focus Group (ESFG)

The main interest of this focus group

consist of 2 major fields which are:

1. Energy and Environmental

- Environmental
- Thermal Comfort and Air Quality

2. Energy Conversion
- Renewable and Alternative Energy
- Electromechanical
Human Engineering Research Group (HUMEN)

The Human Engineering Group (HEG) conducts research

related to biomechanics, rehabilitation, ergonomics,
biosimulation, and biomedical engineering. This includes
application areas such as the development of medical
devices and technology for diverse user groups, including
patients, medical doctors and physiotherapists. The group
believes that the combination of knowledge from a myriad
of fields which includes engineering, physiotherapy,
rehabilitation and medicine and technology is key in
improving medical and healthcare systems, human health
and quality of life.
Structural Performance Materials Engineering (SUPREME)

The Structural Materials and Degradation (SMD) Focus Group was

established in January 2011. In 2020, along with the new faculty,
Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology
(FTKMA), the focus group has been rebranding to Structural
Performance Materials Engineering (SUPREME). The focus group
covers related research fields in material engineering which includes
metallurgy, corrosion and protection, plasticity, fracture mechanics,
finite element modelling, polymer, composite and membrane.
Advanced Structural Integrity and Vibration
Research Group (ASIVR)

The Advanced Structural Integrity and Vibration Research Group is

a leading research group in the vibration & structural integrity area,
particularly in the oil and gas sector. Our fundamental and applied
research projects and specializes in vibration, machine and
structural dynamics, material fatigue and integrity will provide you
with the latest engineering skills and expertise to solve real life
and complex engineering problems.
