One-Sample T-Test

To test if the herring's body weight in grams is less than 400g.

*1The test statistics are listed in the table above. The one sample t-test statistic is -
2.428. "Sig. (2-tailed)" stands for the p value. If the population mean is precisely 400
grams, then the probability of finding the outcome we did is only 2%. If p < .05 we reject
the null hypothesis. Thus, we conclude that herrings likely weigh less than 400 grams.

According to Levene's test, if "Sig" or p >.05, then "Equal variances assumed,"

otherwise "Equal variances not assumed."

We conclude from this procedure that the mean differences in anxiety (p =.055) and
depression (p =.052) are not statistically significant. However, the differences in
compulsive behavior (p =.002) and antisocial social behavior (p.001) are both
significant.

We conclude from this procedure that the means for Exam 1 and Exam 2 are not statistically
significant because its’ p value (0.331) is greater than 0.05, while the second test indicates that
the means for exams 1 and 3 are statistically different because its’ p value (0.25) is less than
0.05. The same goes for the final test between exams 2 and 3 which its’ p value is 0.023.
