HOT AIR BALLOONING
Hot air ballooning is the activity of flying hot air balloons.
The Montgolfier brothers discovered the hot air balloon in 1774.
The hot air balloon was the first successful human carrying flight technology.
Hot air balloons can fly up to extremely high altitudes.
Hot air ballooning was given birth in 1960 by two cafeteria workers.
A ballooning festival is held annually in Minnesota in the USA where about
2300 hot air balloons rise in the air to race for the ballooning cup.
On 26 November,2005 Vijaypat Singhania, a Citizen of Mumbai,INDIA set
the world altitude record for the highest hot air balloon flight reaching
21,290 meters [64,980feet}.He took off from downtown Mumbai and
landed 240km [150mi] South of Panchale.
SKY DIVING
Sky diving is a method of transiting from a high point earth with the aid of
gravity,involving the control of speed during the descent with the use of a
parachute.
Skydiving was first invented by Grant Morton in 1911.
Andre-Jacques Garnering was the first to make successful descents using
a canvas copy from a small basket tethered beneath a hot air balloon.
A skydiving festival is held annually in Puerto Rico which is attended by
millions of skydivers to bag the prestigious vector cup.
On October 10,2014 Alan Eustace of set a world record for the highest jump
jumping from 135,890 feet [41,422 meters] and drogue falling for four and
a half minutes.
CANOEING
Canoeing is a recreational boating activity or paddling sport in which you
kneel or sit facing forward in an open or closed decked canoe,and
propel yourself with a single bladed paddle,under your own power.
Canoes were developed over the course of thousands of years by the native
people of North America.
The word Canoe originated from the word ‘kenu’ meaning dugout in native
American.
Canoeing also has a special part in the Olympics.
On 21 March,2012 Mark De Jonje of CANADA set the world record for
canoeing for 200m in the shortest time that is 33.818 seconds.
SCUBA DIVING
Scuba diving is a mode of underwater diving in which a scuba diver uses
a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus to breathe underwater.
Open circuit scuba was first discovered by Frenchmen Emile Gagnan and
Jacques Yves Cousteau.
Cousteau coined the term ‘aqua lung’ or ‘scuba diving’ for use in English
speaking countries.
A dive festival known as the Cape Town dive festival is held annually
in Cape Town which is attended by divers from all around the world.
Ahmad , a 41 year old Egyptian,has broken the record for the deepest
scuba dive plunging an astonishing 332.35m [1090ft]
in the Red sea off the coast of Dahab,Egypt.
DIRT BIKING
Dirt biking is a form of off road motorcycle racing held on enclosed
off road circuits.
Daimler and Maybach invented the dirt bike on 23 November,1885.
The FIM world prix grand dirt bike championship is held annually
throughout the world [ASIA,EUROPE,AMERICA] in which both
rookies and veterans participate in large numbers.
Stunt wars creator Todd Colbert loaded up one people on his
1992 GSX-R1100 and rode a wheelie for 303 feet in 1998
