century music style.

IV. PROCEDURES

A. Introduction What I need to know?

In this part, the learner will be asked to describe how the current
music such as anime and cartoon movies were inspired by the 20th
century music styles.
The learners are reminded about the interplay of environment and
music.

Learning objectives must be discussed to guide the learners on


what they are expected to achieve after the lesson.
B. Development
What I Know?
The learner will be asked about the previous lesson, Impressionism.

What’s In?

The learner will be introduced to Expressionism.


Have the learners listen to excerpts of music recordings or watch
video clips (from Youtube) on Expressionism.
The teacher will introduce Arnold Schoenberg and Igor Stravinsky
as the major composers of Expressionistic style.
The teacher is also directed to assign compositions of Schoenberg
and Stravinsky to learners so that they would be able to compare
the characteristics of their music.

What is it?

Let the learners describe Expressionism as a musical movement of the


late 19th and early 20th century.

What’s More?

The learners will take part in a short exercise to test their


understanding and listening skills
The learners will identify if the description of musical characteristics
refers to Arnold Schoenberg and Igor Stravinsky.

The learners will be asked to create an artwork inspired by


Petrouchka using any contemporary medium of arts. Use any
paper available for your artwork.

In this part, the learner will choose a composition that they like.
The teacher will ask them to give a short description of the
composer.

What I Can Do

The learner will be asked to answer the word hunt. Write the words
that are related to expressionist music. The words run horizontally,
vertically and diagonally.

The learner will write personal insight on their notebook or journal using the
prompts below.
