Talking points for Director (Power) & Director (HR- Addl charge) at IIM Ahmedabad

 It goes without saying that the period of 2020-2022 was a challenging time on many fronts.
Climate change, wars and conflicts, a global energy crisis following hard on the heels of the
COVID-19 pandemic, with the business suffering the impact.

 These challenges are all symptoms of long-term, underlying megatrends. For a successful
transition to a more progressive and resilient global organisation with a vision of “A global
engineering enterprise providing solutions for a better tomorrow”, meeting these challenges
head-on will require all the resources at our disposal.

 World Economic Forum, has mentioned 5 main pillars for future industrial strategies:
a) Building resilience and sustainability into industrial supply chains
b) Enabling Technology adoption, transfer and diffusion
c) Creating the workforce for the future
d) Expediting decarbonisation and advancing climate action
e) Integrating sustainability as a core business goal

 These 5 pillars indicate towards soon to be arriving new business models and require quick
adaptability to respond to changing macro environments.

 At that point in time, our organisation will need leaders to take control and steer the
organisation towards growth and agility.

 The design elements of this entire program like Strategic Decision making, Transforming
diversified organisation, Leading Strategic Innovations, Leading Sustainably, Artificial
Intelligence are very much in sync with the future skills of required for an impactful business
leader.
 With this intervention at IIM Ahmedabad, our business leaders shall be able to embark a
journey of transformative leadership for the organisation i.e. BHEL.
 From here on your role shall be a Chief Transformation Officer of your respective businesses
relying on your ability to strike the right balance, between short-term improvement and
long-term value, and between making sure line managers themselves take responsibility for
change and personally ensuring they deliver results quickly and with suitably high ambition.

 Your decision making skill is important when it comes to deploying the often-limited
resources at their disposal to the different priorities of a transformation.

 As you lead the organisation’s transformation, you carry the responsibility of good problem
