4A’S LESSON PLAN

I. OBJECTIVES

The students should be able to:


 Differentiate the independent clause and dependent clause.
 Identify words that function as subordinating conjunction.
 Use the correct subordinating conjunction to link simple sentences
together.

IV. LESSON PROPER

ACTIVITY

The students will be grouped into two groups. Each group will have four
representatives. The members of the group will form a line and the first
person in the front will pass the words into the other member. The winners
are those who could guessed most of the words.

Words:
1. I read newspaper because it provides information.
2. The train reached the station before us.
3. Did she say anything before she left?
4. If you work hard, you will be successful too.
5. I met them when we were in Paris.

ANALYSIS
After the grouped activity, the teacher will ask the following analytic questions.
One of member of each group will be asked to answer the questions.
1. Did you enjoy our game?
2. What do you think is the use of those words earlier in our game?
3. Based on the activity, can you infer our lesson for today?

After conditioning the mind of the students, the teacher will present lesson
and the learning objectives.

ABSTRACTION
The teacher will explain the following points:
Subordinating conjunction is a word or phrase that links a dependent
clause to an independent clause. This word or phrase indicates that a clause
has informative value to add to the sentence’s main idea, signaling a cause-
and-effect relationship or a shift in time and place between the two clauses.
APPLICATION
The students will write about their bravest moment and they must use 5 and
more subordinating conjunction. It will be two points each subordinating
conjunction, below 5 conjunction will get 2 points deduction. (10 minutes).

Checking of Students’ Output


The teacher will give feedback to the output of the 10 randomly selected
students.

VALUEING
The teacher then ask for 5 students whose willing to share their takeaways in
writing their bravest moments while adding subordinating conjunction. The
selected students may share what they have learned in writing their
experiences and what are the words they used that function as subordinating
conjunction. Crucially the teacher will further explain the importance of the
subordinating conjunction.

V. EVALUATION

To check the students’ learning of the lesson, the teacher will conduct a quiz.

Direction: Write in a ¼ sheet of paper the words that best corresponds to the
sentences.

IDENTIFYING WHAT IS SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTION

What is conjunction?
 It is one of the eight parts of speech.

SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTION
- it connects two unequal clauses.
- is a word or phrase that links a dependent clause to an independent
clause.

Clause – Is a group of words.


Ex:
the girls are running fast.
for her upcoming wedding.

Independent clause – a group of words that expresses a complete thought.


It can stand alone.
Example: I learned how to save money.
Dependent clause – also called subordinate clause. A group of words that
expresses an incomplete thought. It cannot stand alone.
Example: because of the pandemic.

2. Whenever I am at the jeepney terminal
-I always listen to music.

Answer:
 Make sure that you lock the doors before you leave the house.
 Before you leave the house, make sure that you lock the doors.
 Sam wasn’t allowed in the car anymore because he told James he
wouldn’t wear a seatbelt.
 After the power cuts, they shouted a lot.
