a) Describe EACH of the following:

(i) A one-way switch

This is used to control one or more lamps from 1 position

(ii) A two – way switch

This is used to control one or more lamps from 2 position

(iii) An intermediate switch

This is used to control one or more lamps from 3 position

(iv) Using a simple sketch, show how an electrician should wire a circuit to control EACH of

the following:

- ONE load from TWO locations

- ONE load from THREE locations

(b) Figure 2 shows the circuit diagram of a single-stroke bell circuit.

Outline the steps in the operation of the single-stroke bell circuit.

When the push button is pressed a path for current to flow is created and the magnetic coils become

energized which attracts the armature towards it, when this occur the striker strikes the bell.
