Initial Presentation

Vision:
A 21st century museum that recognizes and honors the Filipino seafarers’ role not only in the
maritime industry but in our global society. Seafarers are our nation’s extraordinary heroes.
Mission:
Through videos, photos, artifacts and visual aids, to increase appreciation of the seafarers by
showcasing the complex and crucial role they play in the maritime industry and how they sacrifice
their comfort and well-being, sometimes even their lives for humanity.
Objectives:
In eight months, the creation of a museum that tells stories of seafarers and their sacrifices to
make our lives better. The stories will be shown in monitors inside the museum.
In eight months, visitors to the museum will understand and appreciate better the vital role
that seafarers have in our global society.
In eight months, the museum will have exhibits on display showcasing the different kinds of
jobs seafarers, their organization and their uniforms.
In eight months, visitors to the museum will have learned more about Captain Gregorio Oca,
his life and his role in AMOSUP and the different benefits he worked hard for for the seafarers.
Objectives:
In eight months, two game consoles for marine navigational simulators will be installed in the
museum for visitors to have an idea of the complexities and challenges of sea navigation.
By the end of 2023, the seafarers, members of AMOSUP, will feel honored and appreciated by
the visitors to the museum and the surrounding community.
By the end of 2024, no less than 20 elementary and high schools will have visited the museum
and learned to appreciate and honor our seafarers and see them as role models in our society.
By the end of 2024 no less than 8 Maritime schools will have visited the museum and learned to
appreciate the role AMOSUP plays in the lives of seafarers.
Strategies:
To promote a better understanding of the life of seafarers while on board ships, interviews and videos
will be made and shown on monitors in the museum.
To increase appreciation of the hardships and sacrifices the seafarers make while on the job, visual
aids, videos, letters and other materials will be on display in the museum.
A museum visit program initiative to the different schools around the museum to promote better
understanding and appreciation of seafarers and the maritime industry in general.
To promote better understanding about themselves in collaboration with Seamen's Village and GASFI,
a seafarer and families’ program initiative will be organized.
Regular exhibits devoted to the creative output by seafarers through art, photography and other
related disciplines will be installed to promote their worth not only to himself/ herself but also to the
public.
