What is data?
Data is a set of characters, letters or
symbols. The starting point to any
action, a standalone, worthless by itself
usually recorded or stored in some kind
of place or device. (Karikari,2020)
What is information?
Data communicated or received
resolves uncertainty about a particular
fact or circumstance.

Data that has been processed within

a context to give it meaning.
Information is interpreted as data
Difference between data
Knowledge
and information
Data:
It exists in a raw format because of
which further analysis is needed to
be able to draw meaningful insights
Data Information from it
Info:
Systematic organization and
assembly of data to acquire or
develop ideas beneficial for the
business.
What is data
analysis?
It's the process of systematically
applying statistical and/or logical
techniques to describe and illustrate,
condense and recap, and evaluate data.
What is organizing data?
"The practice of categorizing and
classifying data to make it more
usable."

A graph is a pictorial representation of

information recorded in a data table,
and it is used to show a relationship
between two or more factors.

Main Steps to Sharing your results

Analyze Data Embrace your failure
The first step in any data analysis process is

1. Defining the to define your objective. This is sometimes

called the ‘problem statement’.
question Defining your objective means coming up
with a hypothesis and figuring how to test it.

2. Collecting the
data
Determine which data you need. This might be quantitative
data or qualitative data.
All data fit into one of three categories:

1. First-party data: data that you, or your company, have directly

collected from customers.
2. Second-party data: is the first-party data of other
organizations.
3. Third-party data: data that has been collected and aggregated
from numerous sources by a third-party organization.
3. Cleaning the data
Cleaning, or ‘scrubbing’ data is crucial in making
sure that you’re working with high-quality data.
Key data cleaning tasks include:
1. Removing major errors, duplicates, and outliers
2. Removing unwanted data points
3. Bringing structure to your data
4. Filling in major gaps

4. Analyzing the data

The type of data analysis you carry out largely depends on what your
goal is.
All types of data analysis fit into one of the following four categories:
1. Descriptive analysis: Identifies what has already happened.
2. Diagnostic analysis: Focuses on understanding why something has
happened.
3. Predictive analysis: Allows you to identify future trends based on
historical data.
4. Prescriptive analysis: Allows you to make recommendations for the
future.
5. Sharing your results
Share these insights with the wider world.
It involves interpreting the outcomes, and
presenting them in a manner that’s digestible
for all types of audiences.
Data analysts commonly use reports,
dashboards, and interactive visualizations to
support their findings.

6. Embrace your failures

Data analytics is inherently messy, and the
process you follow will be different for every
project.
What’s important is to hone your ability to
spot and rectify errors.
